Since Kartoon is public I was able to look up their financials. The thing with "but it's for kids" is the "but." Why is it being for kids a "but" that contradicts it being good instead of a neutral descriptor? What did you find lacking? Too didactic? Not explicit enough? Covers age-based themes you've already thoroughly processed and have lost interest in?

What exactly makes a work of art "for" a specific age demographic is actually a complicated and interesting conversation. So it annoys me when people are like "X is a good show, *but it's for kids*" without elaborating. It just comes off as you trying to save face because you liked ATLA too much.

The below is burned into my brain and it's about as appealing a pitch as if video games involved getting shot with an actual gun.

I remember in high school when I learned about e-books I was so excited about how liberating that tech would be for students and textbooks. But instead of free PDFs, we got DRM Hell and mandatory textbooks that you literally cannot buy even if you wanted to. Only rent.

Aside from not casting Dante Basco my only other gripe with Forgotten Island is the 80s/90s nostalgia grating. I'll accept "Never Tear Us Apart" and (begrudgingly) "Don't You Forget About Me" because they fit thematically. But the rest feels like "HEY GROWN-UPS REMEMBER THIS????"
