People shouldn't brigade and there's some unfortunate transphobia happening here along with it, but also I don't feel like they are attempting to have an earnest discussion. They've screenshot this thread (post block) to complain about it while also saying they're fine and can totally deal with it.

Hey if Osbourne wouldn't condemn threats of political violence from the LPNH X account... dual offers and some pomp and bolstering seem more than fair game. I take Reynolds message to basically be "if violence is okay let's dual like old nobility and I will win." A textual glove on the ground.

Probably ordered from two different carriers and one or both of them had infrastructure on the same cable leased from a third provider. "Oh we have our own dark fiber on that route" except it's a IRU or something...

How can a city be twice as big but one third as dense with roughly the same population?

I have reported repeatedly to do just that. My town is unfortunately Republican leaning, but when you itemize stuff like "should we buy a new firetruck? It will increase the tax rate." people are all for it. "(X) Money to repair roads?" Send it! People can handle it when it is bite sized pieces.

I think the primordial element of the culture war wrt Kei Trucks and Cybertrucks before any social concerns really is aesthetic. People who like Cybertrucks are tasteless & feel Keis are emasculating. People who like Keis correctly understands Toriyama characters drive them.

i think some pro-AI people are also taken aback by what feels like the sudden implication that they’re not cool when they’ve been told the last couple of years how they’re on the cutting edge and anyone who didn’t get on board would end up looking like a loser when maybe it’s the other way around

For almost everything I would agree... except car repair videos. I need the visual flow of how you get to the part. Still pictures can never quite contextualize the position for me.

I genuinely believe that the US's inability to embrace hybrid drivetrain technologies in cars (meaning like the OG Prius, not new plug-in stuff) was a very bad sign of cultural decline which we really should have paid more attention to. We decided to look at innovation and say "no thanks"

I had to call the local phone company about a tree on a telephone wire. I work in telecom and was 100% certain it was a phone wire. Even when talking with a person and giving them an address, they could not open a dispatch ticket without an associated phone number. I called the power CO instead.

Yeah, well *I'm* fed up with politicians who took until 2026 to realize an energy system which relies on constant extraction of resources sets you up for this very thing to happen one day. Alternatives are here! We've been talking about them for decades now! It's not that complicated!

Oh true. It all depends on the price you can get a leaf that needs a new battery. As long as people are buying them for 6-7k (4-6 around here) then it won't be worth it to buy and do the swap. The swap can make sense if you already have a leaf and the battery dies and it's in good rust shape.

GreenTec Auto does battery replacement and although pricy if you get a good deal on the vehicle itself the total cost isn't IMO unreasonable. There are also cheaper aftermarket kits that require substantiality more DIY...YMMV.

We do this all the time with: street lights, traffic lights, cable TV power supplies (those big gray boxes on the pole), network enclosures for FTTH, small cells, etc. We have practices and procedures already in place for pole-mount things. For billing, the vending machine industry has card readers.

People are already rebuilding cells in existing packs and swapping battery chemistry on their electric lawnmowers. We've got dongles to adapt charging standards... Just need the new pack to emulate the old pack. I can't wait for the "I Na-ion swapped this 2016 Nissan Leaf" YT videos in 10 years.

This has the added bonus of encouraging infrastructure development by developers. If you allow density then maybe it's worthwhile for a developer to pay a city to extend a water or sewer line, or develop a private water/sewer utility managed by a village district or HOA.

Samiti @samiti.bsky.social · 18/02/2026
The idea doesn't clash with the engineering constraints. If a site has the utilities to support density then zoning can't stop density. If the site doesn't have the utilities to support density then zoning doesn't matter. Places with infrastructure get denser and places without do not.
