I have made a profoundly stupid new bot. I fully expect its followers will number in the low dozens. But it delights *me*, and that's the important thing. You know how Sugar Ray's "Fly" was introed by Jamaican dancehall DJ Super Cat? Well, what if every song could have that intro?

I'm still really proud of @samglover.bsky.social's work on this one, even if the target of our click-through to learn more doesn't autoplay (it did on launch, but that source was subsequently taken down).

I ran simplemits.com through Cloudflare so I could see some basic traffic numbers just in case I wasn't the only one using it. I admit, part of me was hoping to find out that dozens (or hundreds!) of people use it. Nope, just me :/ Oh well.

Many Minnesotans are receiving fraudulent text messages claiming to be the MN Department of Public Safety. Let me be clear: the MN DPS and DVS will never send you a text message for money. Please go to ag.state.mn.us/robocalls to file a report and help us stop these scammers.

Every few months someone reads a terms of service and spots the *basically necessary* copyright license that any site that handles 3rd party content HAS TO HAVE to avoid getting sued out of existence by awful copyright lawyers and freaks out. Mike here explains why.

I think “driving traffic” might actually be a negative for me. Social interaction is intrinsically valuable. It doesn’t need to derive its value from redirecting attention elsewhere.

I (and my co-author @pomerantz@mastodon.social) have an essay up at MIT Reader that's an extension of some of the ideas in the book. Would love any feedback, as we're still working the ideas out ourselves, but we both think there's something interesting there.

In its 2022 report LSC found that the access-to-justice gap had expanded to a jaw-dropping 92%. But before we burn down the legal system let’s take a closer look at that number.

FWIW, ITC did feel to me a bit like ABA TECHSHOW for legal aid nonprofits. A bunch of scrappy lawyers and staff trying to leverage limited resources to deliver legal services. But yeah, the funding gap relative to for-profit legal tech is a Grand Canyon.
