Is fascism rooted in masculinity? Kinda but not really? It usually uses the engine of a masculine failure mode to motivate men to join the movement. The cult of action, who's appeal to masculine people (including butch women) is obvious but would require a bunch of theory to explain in full.

Umberto Eco gets at something real, but is also very much engaging in the Freudian Gambit. He's both condemning fascism while virtue signaling his own masculinity (in opposition to the barbaric, insecure, base, and tasteless fascist machismo) as well.

Like you can actually work with the LLMs, especially the higher end models. And you will get usable results. The AI detection models just do not work, and the user cannot curate their outputs appropriately.

I'd argue it's significantly less reliable actually. Like by an order of magnitude. You should absolutely not use that software, it's only used because it's literally a one input module. Which sounds like a caricature of LLMs but it really isn't.

We don’t reflect enough on how the revealed preference of the richest men in history, who can afford any material luxury or human experience, is often “being angry and resentful all the time.” Righteous grievance turns out to be the absolute pinnacle of Maslow’s pyramid. The ultimate luxury good

The way a state is created is primarily by having it solve problems. Before then, it's either just a wacky org with a lofty name, or a guy with an army.

History is kept by the winners is arguably more accurate. But it becomes relevant only when important things are passively or actively cast aside. the astecs famously burned records before their time. And we basically only have the conservative perspective from classical greece.

people who post online are overwhelmingly yuppies. And yuppies, are the kind of people who think they're working class, because class analysis refuses to acknowledge the existence of the professional/proletariat divide. Fundamentally different groups of people

That's simply not true. There was no golden economic period where jobs grew on trees, where it was easy to buy a house and everyone got one, where no one had to rent or have roommates in their early 20s. You have hallucinated an era of history and then given yourself depression for not living in it.

People say honor is dead. This is nonsense. We have an unprecedented ammount. We just call it "civic duty" and "good samaritanism" and "professionalism" and "code of conduct" and "duty of care"

I grew up in a very different environment, where maleness was pathologised, and held to an extremely critical standard. And when met with hate i was meant to accept it. And trans men just kinda broke the spell in a lot of ways. Made me feel not so cursed and confused at the same time.

I need you to understand that Argentina and the US are very different countries. Bullrich was a candidate in the first round of the election. She endorsed milei in the runoff. after she lost. The left in Argentina and the US are completely different animals.

There's four kinds of leftwingers in this world. Liberals with talking points, The most corrupt motherfucker ever, Paternalist with broad empathy, and Dictator Mustachev. Massa was the most corrupt motherfucker you've ever seen kind. As every peronist is. Also, girl probably voted Bullrich.

I wish people would stop projecting American politics on other countries. Like just a little bit of reading on Peronism would grant you some insight into why Argentinians are skeptical about left wing governance in the context of their history.

If you think the US is unstoppable, incomparibly more powerful today than it was 40 years ago, and that the iranian regime is stuck in the past. Then you'd be under the impression that you can do anything. that nothing is impossible if you just commit to the bit. This is very dumb btw.

However, in the late 1500s, it was not the states that were supreme enough, and the states were not lead by statesmen, but by rentineers who were selfish and sought to extract value through the use of the state, an instution they had invented for this purpose.

However, the basic constraints that caused the transatlantic slave trade are still present. Labour Shortage in a shit world to live in. The slave trade worked out, because it was cheap enough to ship slaves. Also, it was laughably inefficient from the perspective of states to do slave trade.

Right so the problem a moon colony might face is a lack of labour on the moon. Why? because the moon sucks to live on. Because the cost of moving a worker from the earth to the moon is so astronomical, you'll find that paying a little extra to have them be more efficient workers will be worth it

Yeah i don't think the modern US is currently fascist, but i think there are fascists in the trump administration and on economic and on interior political points they have a net fascist lean. I think the cult of action exists inside of the trump administration.

Salamander Guy @salamander.bsky.social · 26/03/2026
Peronism is fascism but you don't have the cult of action. This is genuinely bizzare, because it otherwise has the structural features of it. But instead of daddy, the state is mommy.

Pete Buttigieg is genuinely a moderate instutionalist social liberal, who happens to have a theory of power, influence, and change that ends up putting him on fox news panels. Gavin Newsom is evil. Like his motivation is hurting "pathetic" people.

A useful reminder that you *want* 'your side' to be losing military war games a lot. The whole point is to ask, 'how will this go in unfavorable circumstances' or 'what is the worst, most effective way my enemy can come at me?' If your military wins all their war games...those are bad war games.
