A vector navigation and inference architecture can construct universal cognitive maps for abstract reasoning
Bicanski proposes an algorithm and neural mechanisms for the iterative construction of abstract cognitive maps via non-local inference. Map positions are triangulated and memorized by a set of extant ...

Hippocampal ripples initiate cortical dimensionality expansion for memory retrieval - Nature Communications
How past experiences are reconstructed from memory remains unclear. Here the authors used intracranial EEG to show that hippocampal ripples reshape the geometry of cortical representations, supporting...

Replay of procedural memory is independent of the hippocampus - Nature Neuroscience
Thompson, Rollik and colleagues show that, during sleep, the brain replays procedural memories in the striatum independently of the hippocampus. Replay content was shaped by prior reward and error out...

Why is reading so fundamental to the human mind? In this fascinating paper, @standehaene.bsky.social & Co show how literacy reshapes and connects the brain’s visual and language systems. A timely reminder of what education could lose if LLMs replace reading & writing. www.unicog.org/publications...

Time for the yearly "summer" team activity: swapped boats for bowling to escape the rain. Some colleagues clearly improved since last time 🧐🎳 Others had beginner's luck?

On the train back to HH, having attended some really fascinating talks on naturalistic neuroscience in Bonn the last days! Many thanks for the great organisation & choice of speakers @bachlab.bsky.social @sabinekrabbe.bsky.social & @predictivebrain.bsky.social. Hope there'll be a next time🧠🥽 #NN2026

Led several workshops today on EEG & eye-tracking at the #HASPA bank Leadership Programme, organised by the Center for Better Work @UHH. Great exchange on the brain under stress in real-world contexts — and a valuable lesson for me in science communication 💬🧠

Grateful for some intense days at #ICON25 in Porto and energised from the people I (re)connected with — so much input, inspiring discussions, and the chance to share my work on hippocampal neurofeedback 🧠 Now moving from brainwaves to ocean waves: recharging with workouts & the sea 🏄🏼‍♀️🏋🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

So lovely to reconnect with my former colleagues from Lund Memory Lab at #ICON2025 in Porto — and seeing data from our MSc thesis featured on a poster with @linniplidot.bsky.social. Looking forward to my talk on hippocampal neurofeedback training this Saturday! 🌞🧠

Kicking off my BlueSky with not one but two marathons wrapped in late April '25: 🏃‍♀️ HASPA Hamburg (42.2 km in 3:21 h) 🧠 fMRI data collection (144 participants over 1.5 yrs) Both tested endurance — one with my favorite upbeat music, one with scanner noise. Perfect moment to reshare this video 🎥
