We're finally getting the tools to study replay in humans. But why bother? What can we learn from it that we don't know from rodent recordings? Our thoughts are now out in a new TICS Forum Great fun writing this w @smfleming.bsky.social + @maritpetzka.bsky.social authors.elsevier.com/sd/article/S...

Interested in human replay and solid methods? Jointly with @skjerns.de we're releasing a benchmark dataset with known ground-truth neural sequences in MEG & fMRI, for developing & validating replay methods. First test: existing methods show similar effect sizes, but room to improve shorturl.at/6TgIr

Does the brain perform inference under pressure? Our fMRI study led by Kai Schueren shows acute stress impairs our ability to link memories of past events with new information.🔗 The work is out now in www.science.org/doi/10.1126/... and also covered in www.nature.com/articles/d41...

💥New paper out! Why do some people generalise threat more than others? We show that anxious people generalise more strongly, even after accounting for perceptual mistakes. A huge (!) thanks to @ondrejzika.bsky.social @nicoschuck.bsky.social and @bernhardspitzer.bsky.social

New publication from our lab! 👀 We found that memory enhancement from PEs depends on the brain's neural state: theta/alpha activity & pre-error reactivation are key. TMS over the superior parietal cortex altered response bias but not PE-related memory effects 💡 👉 www.jneurosci.org/content/45/3...

Prediction Error-Related Memory Enhancement Depends on the Neural State Surrounding the Prediction Error Event
Prediction errors (PEs) can enhance memory for preceding events. While such PE-related memory enhancements are critical for understanding adaptive memory, their underlying mechanisms are not fully und...

Delighted to share our work on replay and successor representations! We find replay during very short task pauses in human visual cortex that is linked to learning SRs & happens when learning is implicit. Study led by @lnnrtwttkhn.bsky.social #compneuro #neuroskyence www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
