Even better - we've recently worked with the Watercress Line on some of its staff stories: you can 'double-up' & read about them at Ropley, too! It might be Ruby Whitwick, the Southern Railway's 1st signalwoman; number-taker Arthur Gates; or John Windebank, creator of Ropley's topiary!
Ropley station - above there is a pensive sky, with blue and clouds swirled together. A green station name board is to the left, on the far platform as we look along the tracks towards Alton. On our platform the signalbox is hidden behind a topiary bush.

Particularly glad to talk to Berwyn Station Master Peter, about the work he was doing on the station underpass, to uncover names & messages written on the walls over the years, incl men going to fight in #WW1. So pleased to hear they're researching them & will be including interpretation.

Had a lovely jaunt on the Llangollen Railway yesterday - plenty to keep all interested across a 60+ yr age range! Been a long time since last on it, so it was good to see the new station at Corwen - hats off to all involved! Thanks also to Bob Gwynne for the tips!

We're in #Wales at the moment, on holiday via another, rather slower, mode of transport - canal! But there's plenty of Welsh railway interest in the project - we've over 30,000 cases in the database, & plenty of blog posts exploring a few of them: www.railwayaccidents.port.ac.uk/tag/wales/

In #Wales at the moment, so a good time to share this - a Railway challenge & a Welsh challenge! Please can any #Railway types identify the location? And/or incident? And please can anyone with Welsh language skills help with translating the message? Thank you/ Diolch!

#OnThisDay 1915 the #Quintinshill disaster killed 226. In this blog @uophistory.bsky.social student George Robinson looks at James Hannah, fireman of 1 of the trains involved. He appears in our database as he belonged to @rmtunion.bsky.social. www.railwayaccidents.port.ac.uk/the-quintins...
