Beautiful, poignant news here. One of my dear friends has written and recorded two songs. One is in memory of her great uncle who died in #WW1 aged just 19. They will be released on 13 October, the anniversary of his death. £1 from every sale goes to the Poppy Appeal. #FamilyHistory #MakingMusic

Manchester's Grade 2* listed Portico Library which dates from 1806 & was established as a subscription library has been awarded £6.4 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund for restoration that will see all three floors open for the first time in a century. 👇 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Engineers will use a combination of traditional methods and modern technology to repair one of England's oldest canal tunnels. Preparations have begun ahead of work starting on the Preston Brook tunnel which is on the Trent and Mersey Canal in Cheshire. 👉 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Halton Castle in Runcorn in Cheshire dates back to around 1070, but residents and councillors said the Grade I listed castle was obscured by overgrown trees - meaning many people were not aware of it... until now Carry on reading 👉 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
