I think the way I’ll look at AC8 from an evolutionary standpoint is that AC7 was basically “what if PS2 Ace Combat but HD” and that was *fine*; the ip could’ve coasted on that for a decade, but AC8 is so much more comprehensive and ambitious and *successful at it* that it feels like a next gen jump
