Ruby community: Look, we can be angry about what's happening, we can raise our complaints, but under no circumstances should anyone _ever_ harass someone's families, coworkers, or friends. That is completely unacceptable, and wholly against the ethos of the language. We must do better.

I agree and even more so: what if the problem is us, the Ruby community, not contributing to our key nonprofit enough? We did not have ownership because we didn’t show up, and RC ended up being squeezed by a big donor because they did not have enough sponsors, stability and support.

Thank you Mina!! All I want is for people to find the tools and people they love :) One of the things I’ve never really expressed before is in this post: I think people can “vacation” in Hanami and bring cool ideas back to their Rails apps. That we can use Ruby in so many different ways is amazing!

OTW home from Railsconf and came across this from @timriley.info about @hanamirb.org. After a week of conversations around being inclusive DESPITE a Certain Someone, Hanami is a community I am super excited about! I still love Rails, but I agree: “A healthy future for Ruby is a more diverse one.”

PLEASE stop using flags to represent languages in your language selector on your website. They're often hard to read at smaller sizes, countries can have multiple major languages, and languages can span to various countries. Just put the name of the language in its native translation.
