I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

The @nytimes hasn't written a single article asking if "voters will think Tom Tiffany is too radical" because he is an election-denying, pro-ICE, authoritarian extremist. Somehow, his position on the political spectrum has disappeared completely from the National and State Conversations™️

I’m 47 years old and I’ve never traveled anywhere by air where both the out and back flights took off on time. Who enjoys this? Stop subsidizing air travel. Let the prices skyrocket, and let demand vanish. Reduce the extreme CO2 emissions. Do more virtually, and invest our taxes in rail instead.

The moderators of the King George County Community Facebook page took a post about this story down and told me it’s because it is “stirring the pot.” Wouldn’t it be great if everyone on Bluesky saw this story in response to their censorship? www.advocate.com/opinion/king...

These LGBTQ+ Virginia kids found support and community in school. Then, bigoted adults took that away

Not disagreeing with that. The New Deal was a major progressive step forward (multiple steps really, because it was many things).

Setting aside the embarrassing self-own of it all, there's something really important here. It speaks to why Trump's people love him, and also why people love Mamdani. A bias toward action MATTERS. People want to see leaders acting and acting decisively. The sense of momentum is contagious 🧵

We had the progressive era, we had the New Deal, and we had the civil rights era. The progressive era led to small scale civil war. The US was experiencing enormous unrest. The New Deal was a result of a leader actually leading. The civil rights era was an example of the Dem trust networks breaking.

If the DNC leadership isn't willing to LEAD the country to the left, then we truly just have a conservative party and a fascist party, and it's time to tear this all down and start over. Or push RCV in every state.

I'm sorry, but the Democratic establishment doesn't get to say "these are low turnout primaries, they don't mean anything." Ritchie Torres, who unlike Espaillat and Goldman, *trounced* his primary challenger got a *total* of 24k votes. Chevalier got 33k Valdez got 38k Lander got 55k

Bonus 6: Because the DNC leadership is trying to align itself with the median voter, they've lost the war of ideas. "Onshore good manufacturing jobs using tariffs, then slow immigration so YOU can get those jobs" was a bold idea (if stupid). The DNC had no big idea to compete w/it except "...or not"

Trust networks are opposed to sharing power with people whose priorities buck the network's consensus because you can't trust them. That's why Jamie Harrison is tweeting this bad take. 1. the solution is RCV. And 2. DNC leadership should be LEADING the consensus left, not suppressing leftists. 5/5

Jon @runagame.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
Coda: A consensus-based trust network isn't necessarily BAD. The people who prove they're willing to put in the work for you are often worth compromising for. The DSA has their own consensus. 4/5

Jon @runagame.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
You can be passionately pro-immigrant-rights, but if the DNC's trust network consensus is "the 2028 candidate needs a tough border solution" you gotta stay silent or lose your access to the trust network. The solution is RCV. Then you can have different consensus networks with competing ideas. 3/5

Jon @runagame.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
We saw the Gaza situation blow up in Harris' face in '24 when the national party trust network cracked because it couldn't form a consensus on Israel. Because it was a breakdown in trust, people on opposite sides on Gaza in '24 *may never work together again*. It's HARD to buck the consensus. 2/5

Jon @runagame.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
Big-D Democratic politics is built from trust networks -- people who work hard for one another and generally bend toward one another on issues, ensuring a liberal, slightly-left-of-center consensus. Individuals can have passions, but nothing that competes with the trust network's group identity. 1/5

Jon @runagame.bsky.social · 25/06/2026
You don't? We have first past the post voting. You have to run as an R or a D. There is no other choice except in states and municipalities that have ranked choice voting. Give us RCV and you'll see all the unions, progressives, leftists, and socialists bail on these callow incrementalists.

The party equivalent of "they hate America!" No, we just want you to Do Better. What policy positions does the DNC hold? Does the DNC want a return to the progressive era where we shift significant power to the working class or, just, like... Republican Lite? Same bland taste, half the fascism!
