Delighted to see Mr Wesley Brown esq featuring on the front of this week's @privateeyenews.bsky.social , though given the cover is about City I fear for their letters editor this week...

But then as the wise man said, "if you're hanging onto a rising balloon, you're presented with a difficult decision. Let go before it's too late or hang on and keep getting higher. Posing the question: how long can you keep a grip on the rope?

I'm sad my kids will miss out on that innocent, early flush of social media. The one without which they wouldn't exist. Bravenet. Friends Reunited. IRQ. Original Twitter. I hope the Discords and Reddits can keep the flag flying a little longer at least.

Given all the fuss I assumed this was going to be a polemic. But it's far more effective and devastating than that. I gave myself a pass on Instagram way back when I left FB. Think it may be time for that account to go as well.

I remember my dad going on about 'the fragrant Mary' judgement at the time. In a sane world the judge would have gone down for lechery.

This Jeffrey Archer love-in can do one. Ruined the lives of those he freely used. Meanwhile he got four years for perjury and still sat in the Lords for another 20. #TeamCoughlan

My dad's a bit of a fan. Still remember watching Triffids! I only caught up with Wyndham during a mad dystopian phase that lasted from 2016 through lockdown. (At one point I turned up to the pub to see a mate I'd not seen in years and we were both reading The Left Hand of Darkness.)

Not the point, but thank you for reminding me how much I love that book! And also how he followed it up with Midwich Cuckoos which essentially reverses the 'community' and 'mutant' roles.

Everything that's wrong with England coverage in microcosm. Decent, hardworking pro, tactically disciplined, better off the ball than on, wasteful up front. Constantly talked about as if he's world class.

The lad's missed two one-on-ones and completed none of his final passes/crosses bar the mis-controlled deflected assist. HE HAS NO END PRODUCT unless Rafinha's practically drawing him diagrams.

Anyway, I generally like Adam and wish the new Miss Ince nothing but success, but the show has been soured irretrievably for me. And you/it owe me nothing - I still often wonder at what point a strawberry dies. I trust and hope the future repays you with only the good things you surely deserve. x

Always wondered how you all rubbed along, given her loudly outspoken and trenchant views. We'd been mutual follows before I realised who her husband was and as a non-woman (albeit with my own opinions) I always tried to listen to views on all sides - but she got a bit much even for me.

Genuinely think Marina Hyde kept me sane through the Brexit years. The only opinion columnist I could ever stomach to read (at any time). Occasionally our thoughts would diverge and it would always give me pause - between the laughs. She won't see this tho cos she's heard Bluesky is insufferable.

We have proudly fertilised the land for the majority of our time on this island. History lessons told of centuries chamber-pots being emptied onto the heads of passing pedestrians. Not to mention the horse-shit. The less-golden era of free public facilities must have lasted less than 40 years.
