I am starting to frame ERC StG and I am conflicted about this question. How much data is considered preliminary data? Will showing protein dynamics and characterising it completely is good or showing that proteins can be produced efficiently? #Science #ERC

📢 New publication. We answered an old question in structural biology: (how) does the crystal lattice impact proteins? In particular, how does the crystal restrict the protein's dynamics? We used local probes of dynamics: the rotation of aromatic rings. 🧵 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Aromatic ring flips reveal reshaping of protein dynamics in crystals and complexes - Nature Chemistry
The extent to which crystal packing constrains protein dynamics is hard to decipher. Now a combination of NMR, crystallography and molecular dynamics simulations show that intermolecular contacts can ...

www.nature.com/articles/s41... We detected a third, previously hidden conformation, an intermediate state ES2 in DNA base pair dynamics rewriting a decade old assumption that they are a simple two-state system.

1H R1ρ relaxation identifies a hidden intermediate in DNA base-pairing - Nature Communications
Biomolecules function through motion. Enabled by improved applicability of ¹H R1ρ NMR, we identify a hidden DNA intermediate and show how small molecules reshape its structural landscape, highlighting...
