This was another brilliant piece for the stop-calling-everything-fascism thread, by @sprezios.bsky.social www.karlpolanyisociety.com/author/adminv/

A similar risk arises today. Those who adorn the concept of fascism with a litany of prefixes — neo-, techno-, post-, para-, eco-, and so on — do not truly grasp what they are dealing with. The current proliferation of variations on the term merely masks the disorientation in the face of a situation that may recall the dark hours of the twentieth century but is nevertheless radically new.

The AfD just celebrated a major victory in Saxony-Anhalt - this prompts the question: Is fascism returning? In the new F&L blog piece, @sprezios.bsky.social argues that the fascism analogy can obscure more then what it reveals about today’s far-right. So what should we do instead? 👇find out here

We're often told that capitalism and market liberalisation are closing the gap between rich and poor countries, and the old colonial inequalities are fading. Is it true? We explored this question in a new paper, just published in NPE. Buckle up for some interesting results! 🧵

A welcome reminder to the intellectually lazy habit of calling everything 'fascism': “The left is doing itself too many favours by considering its opponents fascists [...] The contemporary far right is more a function of the crisis of liberalism than it is a function of the strength of the left.”
