I’m usually a pollsters dream. I answer every call, I waste endless time answering their questions sent via text from dem candidates. I know how important it is to get this data. But there was no way I was continuing this one. Maybe someone should regulate the AI industry..? *cough* @alexbores.nyc

The sky over New York tonight said 'I have opinions about local politics' and chose these exact colors... nature's timing is undefeated 🧡💙 @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social
Orange and golden sunset sky with wisps of clouds over New York City skyline silhouetted in deep blue shadow. The sun's glow creates a gradient from bright orange-yellow near the horizon to deeper blue above.Wide view of NYC skyline at sunset with buildings in silhouette against a vibrant orange sky transitioning to blue. Layers of clouds catch the golden light, creating streaks of yellow and orange across the horizon.

why is this mayoral election different than all other mayoral elections? in all other mayoral elections, we get to see andrew cuomo lose but once. but in this mayoral elections, we get to see him lose *twice*.

Not including mailed ballots (more than 107k of which have been returned), this fully local election is likely to have a turnout that exceeds 2 million by the end of the night. It will definitely be the highest turnout in a NYC municipal election since 1969, the last time we topped 2 million.

Teen Vogue did some great journalism around immigration detention and enforcement. Sounds like corporate has now killed that off. The media landscape shrinks even further.

This answer from Sliwa was significantly better than Cuomo’s and I am wildly surprised and at the same time not, because Sliwa was actually in NYC during its hardest years (which are definitively NOT now).

So, the New York Times totally told Bloomberg that, after the comment section got out of control, they couldn’t publish another column like Ezra’s from last week, and he decided to self-publish it instead. Right?

This week, I was out w/Manhattan District Leaders. The East Side DLs had either never met or only briefly interacted with Lasher, while the West Side DLs knew Bores well and liked him, even if they planned to support Lasher later. This aligns with my experience with voters on both sides of the park.

Ezra-

Your piece on the death of Charlie Kirk was reckless, insulting, condescending, and worst of all, a piece of hagiography. For someone who claims to honor history and context in your work, it reads as if it was written by someone who respects neither of those things.

What does it mean to practice politics in the "right way"? For whom does a "taste for disagreement" benefit? Certainly not the vulnerable populations—trans people, Black women, and more—who Kirk routinely targeted with hate speech and calls for violence.

When I was a college intern at NBC News Washington in 2008, I would watch your MSNBC appearances on the monitor in our office. At that point I could only dream of having a platform like yours, which has grown exponentially since then. Now that I have a platform (albeit it much, much smaller than yours) and I couldn't fathom using it to gaslight the country into believing a hateful man stood for a public good. Maybe it's time to consider how you're using yours.

Wild how political alliance with Zionism sweeps all sorts of wild statements about Jews under the table
Kirk said that Jewish people control “not just the colleges; it’s the nonprofits, it’s the movies, it’s Hollywood, it’s all of it.” Kirk also said ”the number one funding mechanism of radical, open border, neoliberal, quasi-Marxist policies, cultural institutions, and nonprofits" is “Jewish donors.” Claims that wealthy Jewish people and donors control major institutions and Hollywood are common antisemitic tropes. In his Oval Office address on political violence, Trump lists the attempt on his life, the Scalise shooting, and attacks on ICE agents. He does not mention Jan 6th, the attack on the Pelosi family, the Hortman murders, the kidnapping attempt on Gretchen Whitmer, or the fire at Gov Shapiro’s house.

The New Yorker asked me “how bad” today’s Supreme Court ruling was. I boiled it down to one paragraph: link.newyorker.com/view/5bda429...
"Just the other day, I was in the audience at Lincoln Center when Justice Amy Coney Barrett said, while promoting a new book, that she doesn't think the United States is in a constitutional crisis," Farias told us. "Today, the Supreme Court, without offering a single line of reasoning, more or less declared that the Fourth Amendment, which protects everyone from unreasonable searches and seizures, nonetheless allows the Trump Administration to arrest and detain anyone who looks Latino, citizen or not, on account of the language that they speak or the kind of jobs they do. The ruling putatively covers the Los Angeles area, but the effect could be national," he continued.
"If that's not a constitutional crisis, then what is?"

I think it’s important to note that in Manhattan it’s a “reform party” meaning it’s bottom up, not top down. Today, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social came to speak to the District Leaders and we held a vote. Our County Leader doesn’t make decisions for us. ~70 people held a lively discussion first!

In Manhattan, District Leaders had the chance to hear Mamdani in person tonight, discuss the endorsement together, and then vote, rather than having a single person decide. We have a Reform Party in Manhattan, so our chair may make his own personal endorsements, but not on behalf of the Party.

I appreciate @nytimes.com reporting on the obscene amounts of PAC spending in this race but maybe they could have mentioned this new one advertising on their site, run by fmr Congress Member Carolyn Maloney's COS that has not filed a single disclosure with the CFB... www.nytimes.com/2025/06/23/n...
Their race, like others, has been swamped by mailers and digital advertising from outside groups backed by companies such as DoorDash and the billionaires Bill Ackman and Steven Roth, who have also supported Mr. Trump and former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, the front-runner in the mayor’s race. Ms. Maloney has been by far the biggest beneficiary in her race of this outside support, with $450,000 backing her.
