As a trans gal, my life is a hellscape. The SWP barely even registers in that noise. In the comprehensive refusal to create conditions that permit trans life, I have serious enemies. The one million generic placard guys should occupy my focus over a generalised condition of trans social murder?

I get your anger with the reactionary left. I have no party with sects who fail their duty of solidarity at every turn. What is there to add to this? Denunicatory lists of the sins of groups with whom I have few common beliefs, whose "revolutionary" traditions are wholly dead?

I'm not in the same tradition as the SWP either. I find them distasteful and would act to dissuade anyone I know from joining their ranks, which, honestly, many young people understand organically. But is it a good use of my limited time and emotional bandwidth to have sect fights with the SWP?

Watching new generations of trans* people be told hopes I never imagined for myself should now be denied them is traumatic. It opens pains on which prose finds no anchoring. Hoping for others is one way to live with deep loss. Losing those hopes confronts me with no longer having a way.

That is demanded by the sadist enthusiasm for denying trans* life expressed by every "side" of our media and across all the revered institutions of the state. By vaccant politicians calculating our lives as games of electoral arithmetic. But I have also never felt words fail so often.

Since Cass's assault on trans* humanity in Britian, I have written plenty on this subject. Writing alone and with others. I will write more. I want more to be said, and not just by me. And not even just by trans* folk. I want to see cis people grapple with this, too.

I can't speak for my coauthors, but a list of obscure orgs would not help here. Some of the orgs you mention I don't know well. Others are beneath contempt, imo. Barely worth acknowledging at all. But regarding the broader left, I plan to be confrontational and demanding. I'm not stopping here.

It's hard for me to convey what it's like to be trans right now. In Britain as elsewhere. Many mornings I am woken by panic attacks that feel like death. We need cis people to attend protests like this one. We need your friendship.

Meanwhile the Labour Party just nod along with proposals that slowly but surely aim makes it impossible for trans life to exist in the UK. Voting and lobbying won’t get us out of this. We tried that for *years*, and it didn’t work. Direct action is the only option we have left.

There's a self-congratulatory aspect. Obviously when someone with racist assumptions "flatters" a mixed-race couple, that's the dynamic. But also in some, as the kid's say, performative cis responses to transness. And beneath all that, but not particularly far beneath, a more bottomless contempt.

If I'm out with another doll, there's this gushing thing some cis women will do—this excessive, somewhat hard-edged act of tenderness. I also experienced this with my then-partner when I was in Alberta, when I was an egg. She was cis and Black, and some older women would compliment our "bravery".
