Happy 13th anniversary to Final Fantasy XIV! This is just a handful of the pieces of art I made inspired by the game over the years, from 2019-2023, as many as I could fit in a post on here. You can see the progress I made in that time!

I've finally framed the print I bought from @rowanclair.bsky.social and I'm utterly hypnotised by it. The print quality is amazing. Rowan has also just released a beautiful new print series, which I'd recommend checking out.

A framed print sitting on a shelf. The print is by @rowanclair, depicting a dark forest with puddles in the foreground, reflecting a golden city scape.

New fine art prints are now available in my shop! 🌿 shop.rowanclair.com/collections/familiar-paths 🌿 These landscapes bring together moments from familiar places, remembered and reimagined through illustration: not simply what they looked like, but what it felt like to be there.

There's a French word for the edge of the woods, where tall plants and trees meet open land. L'orée. I see images like this in my head every time I hear or say that word. L'orée du bois 💖

This place is real, but it's also an amalgamation of memories. The way we remember a landscape can be very different from its literal appearance. Some things become larger and clearer, others smaller and fuzzier. 🧵

First count of this year in the garden. Like last year the weather has resulted in an amazing amount of insects even though the overall trends are worrying.

List of butterflies counted in a 15 minute session today. 1 small white, 1 small copper, 8 gatekeepers, 1 speckled wood, 2 red admirals, 2 holly blues

saw this post years ago and will never ever forget it. sometimes you need to tend to the place from which you create, before you can create again

Screenshot of a tumblr post by user aureliobooks that reads: My dad likes to call the stretches of time where you’re not creating “dreaming periods” and says that they’re meant to allow you to absorb all of the beauty, life, and inspiration from the things around you so that when you’re able to create again, you will have fanned your spark back into a flame. Sometimes its hard to see those moments as anything but stagnation, but he always says that they’re natural and healthy and needed—things that should be embraced rather than feared.

My art is created with a desire to share something about my experiences, to communicate a feeling, an idea or a place. Sometimes those places are the ones I walk through every day, like this one. Sometimes they are places that exist only in my head. Sometimes they're somewhere in between.

An illustration rendered in vibrant pinks and purples of a man shielding his eyes from the light as he looks up at a crystal tower in the sky. Tall trees frame the image and strange creatures lurk in the shadows.

In the spirit of my last posts - tomorrow is my birthday and what I'd like to ask for is for you to share something you've made with me! Here's some of my own art to start things off, but it doesn't have to be like that. Crafts, photos, music, writing... all counts... but it has to be from YOU

Illustration of the aurora borealis, in vibrant colours against a starry winter night sky, with dark silhouettes of trees in the foreground.

Artwork showing willow saplings, white flowers and seed heads blowing in the breeze, in front of a wooded area. Two white butterflies fly among the vegetation.

A cyanotype print of a jellyfish surrounded by sea anemones.

Illustration of a white, snow-covered tree in a winter landscape, with a line of more snowy trees visible in the distance against blue hills. The sky is a soft gradient of pink, green and blue.

I've been spending my spare time doing ceramics and music production over the last few months and learning how to make things in new ways is just so endlessly rewarding. It's hard work but even as a beginner, when you end up with tangible things that you learned how to make yourself, it's amazing.

My first surface pattern design ➡️ my favourite! My favourite here may be a few years old now, but it makes a perfect comparison because it was such a huge turning point for me. The cherry pattern was fun but it wasn't really "me". I didn't have a strong sense of the kind of art I wanted to make.

The first pattern design I created, simple drawings of cherries and leaves on a light coloured background

My favourite pattern design: a dense, detailed forest in lush greens with a waterfall flowing through the centre
