Because, how do you know? How do you know *why* someone is using a certain label? What exactly do you lose when you stop gatekeeping terms aside from a way to assert power over others in your community?

I think it is pendantic to try and enforce that, honestly. I think the greatest thing any "weird" community can do is take the labels someone uses at face value, in good faith. Saying, "you can't call yourself that, you don't meet the criteria," is entirely uncalled for.
