We should buy the products of Canadian companies not because economic nationalism is a good idea — the whole point of our outrage at the tariffs is that it isn’t — but because specific local companies, our neighbours, are getting hurt badly by this and need a lot of support now

By donating their current U.S. inventory (which no one wants right now) to a Food Bank, Canadian grocery stores can compensate for the loss with a tax deduction and by a smart advertising campaign, then replace with a Canadian or non-American good. Win win.

Text reads “The LA Wildfires Revealed a "Natural Gas" Crisis Looming on the Horizon” “Gas lines may have complicated firefighting efforts in Los Angeles by fueling open flames. That's just'one danger of so-called "natural gas" - and one of the many reasons for buildings to go electric.” Arrow icon in bottom right corner. Cream-colored background. Text reads “As Los Angeles rebuilds, it is highly likely that the majority of new structures will ditch gas hookups and go electric. This vital transition to all-electric buildings is underway across the U.S., marking the beginning of the end for the gas network.” Image of a gas meter connected to a brick building. Arrow icon in bottom right corner.Black background. Text reads “From costs to safety, as we transition to an all-electric future, gas will become more and more unsustainable. The solution? Pruning back the gas pipeline network so entire branches of the system can be shut off, paving the way for safer and cleaner all-electric neighborhoods.” Arrow icon in bottom right corner. Background image of a gas meter with a yellow filter. Text reads “By shutting down their local gas networks for good, burned and high-fire-risk communities in Los Angeles can make the electric grid safer and more resilient by eliminating two major sources of fire danger: overhead power lines and gas hookups.”
