We should buy the products of Canadian companies not because economic nationalism is a good idea — the whole point of our outrage at the tariffs is that it isn’t — but because specific local companies, our neighbours, are getting hurt badly by this and need a lot of support now

Over my mostly private-sector career, I’ve heard the suggestion that government is incompetent and the private sector is efficient and effective. Many times I’ve seen the opposite, with the private sector often shockingly incompetent but largely un-scrutinized like the public sector is. Until now.
