The more I think on it, the more Lucy Powell's football comment at the close of Lab Conf seems ill-advised. Not the Man U being 'crap' comment (we are at present), but it's very much a live issue with potential far reaching consequences. This, and her other comments, suggest a lack of judgement.

My latest for @lbc.co.uk: If politicians want to reduce the PIP and wider benefits bill, they should make basic investments in accessible infrastructure and services ⬇️
Screenshot of an LBC opinion article with headline “PIP would cost less if politicians invested in making life easier for people like me,” subtitle “If Government wants to spend less on disability benefits over time, it has to remove the daily barriers that create these costs, writes disability campaigner Anna Landre,” and photo of Anna, a young white woman using a wheelchair.

It is incredibly important that political violence does not succeed. The far-right mob that shut down Portsmouth wanted this outcome. If the state wishes to avoid more of these actions, it needs to make sure this RNLI branch reopens *immediately*, or as close to that as humanly possible.

This is utterly disgraceful. If high profile politicians from across the political divide won't speak out on this then we need a trusted well known celeb to lead a campaign to help end this. There is absolutely no valid excuse for such behaviour.

Why is the BBC and many other News outlets leading on the Spencer/Royal story. Spencer is trying to sell his book on the back of a 29 year old tragedy. Is there really no other important news items to lead with? Because I think I may have found a few if anyone is interested?

Well it's a big day for me here Blue Sky as I've just blocked my first Bluey. I'm not a blocker, I tend to ignore and move on, but if you're so lacking in empathy and instead exercise performative cruelty for your 'cause' then you're blocked.

Lot of tripe being said in comparing Union political donations and those from individuals. I was membership officer at a workplace years ago. I met new recruits and talked about membership fees etc and the political donation opt-in. From memory 50% happy for political donation. It's always a choice.

The two who gave those very large donations to Reform UK will be well aware of the recent C4 expose and subsequent police investigation (and other investigations into funding). The timing of this shows they don't care, ethics are for others. One is a convicted felon so hardly surprising.

I'm not in favour of this particular #AssistedDying bill. I don't think the safeguards are there or that palliative and social care are sufficiently funded. But however #MPs vote I hope they do so having thoroughly researched the issues and content of the bill. This is a vote that demands focus.

Immigration figures today won't matter a jot to many on the Right. They seem offended by any amount of immigration, particularly if you're not white. Just as some are offended by the very presence of ethnic minorites, gay people, disabled people, certain faiths etc. Let's not seek their acceptance.

A post on X The Everything App by Zia Yusuf reading

I am a lethal electoral threat to their party.

It's fine to say you don't want a "postcode lottery" in being able to study physics at school or get an MRI scan. There do need to be things that are nationally available even in a highly devolved system. But there needs to be a reason, otherwise central decision-making remains the norm.

Given Reform supporters tend to be older and on lower incomes they will be more likely to benefit from PIP than the average person. This is another one of their "25%" policies that appeals to core supporters but will put off people they could potentially win over.

Borrowing the NHS’s narrative power to make the case for social care form is enormously tempting, but the way it is commonly done now - positioning social care as little more than a pressure valve out outflow & subordinate to the NHS - is failing to grow social care's own salience. How to reframe..
