Lessons to be learned: 1. Centrists align with far-right to look tough on immigration 2. Centrists gain nothing 3. Far-right wins more power
German Opposition Gambles With Far-Right on Immigration, and Loses
Friedrich Merz and his Christian Democrats broke a political taboo by working with the hard-right Alternative for Germany to toughen rules on immigration. It did not pay off.In an effort to portray himself and his party as tough on immigration, Friedrich Merz, the leader of the poll-leading Christian Democrats, pushed a series of measures tightening borders and accelerating deportations through Parliament this week. He did so with help from the hard-right Alternative for Germany party, or AfD — parts of which have been classified as extremist by German intelligence agencies.

On Friday, the gambit ended in a crushing legislative defeat for Mr. Merz, dissent in his own party and jubilant claims of new legitimacy from the AfD, a chain reaction that could rattle Mr. Merz’s comfortable seat at the top of the polls.

Mr. Merz’s willingness to rely on support from the AfD, broke a taboo in German politics that had endured since the end of World War II.

Transgender athletes’ rights was opposed by those who viewed female athletes as undeserving, study finds
The researchers also found that adherence to traditional standards of femininity—such as prioritizing thinness and attractiveness—was a strong predictor of opposition to transgender athlete inclusion. For instance, respondents who endorsed the idea that women should be thin or that women’s muscles were less attractive were less supportive of transgender athletes competing in alignment with their gender identity.

Negative attitudes toward homosexuality were another powerful predictor of opposition to transgender athletes’ rights. Participants who expressed homophobic views, such as agreeing with statements like “I would be disappointed if I found out my child was homosexual,” were significantly more likely to support sex testing and oppose transgender inclusion.

From an internal thread about the change:
One reply to the thread reads “I wish I could resign in protest, but I’ve already resigned.”

Other comments include:

“I find it very hard to understand how explicitly carving out which groups of marginalized people can have what we otherwise classify hate speech directed at them will be beneficial for the communities we hope to build on our platforms.”
“This change is unacceptable on all levels.”
“Someone went into this policy and not only removed protection, they actually *doubled down* and made it explicitly okay. Absolutely wild.”
“I had to reread the policy language many times to believe what I was seeing—a very clear statement that we’re okay with people attacking others based on their sexual orientation or gender identity. I cannot begin to fathom why we think this is acceptable or helpful to our community and our company’s mission. I’ve never felt so strongly that we’re on the wrong side of history. This is going to cause so much harm. Please reconsider this change.”
“When I first joined this company, people would criticize me for working here all the time. I defended y’all time and time again, always anchoring that in the end we do try our best even if it doesn’t work out sometimes - but this? appalling.”
“I think it’s clear that the policy team is not open to any feedback here and is committed to an ideological project that sacrifices some of our communities in order to achieve their goal,” one employee wrote. “Just call me a tranny and close the discussion here. At least it would be honest.”

Meta literally created a LGBTQ exception for calling someone mentally ill as an insult. You can't do it for any other group except LGBTQ people.
The image is from a "Transparency Center" document and lists guidelines regarding acceptable and prohibited content for insults. It mentions:

1. Insults about:

Character, such as cowardice, dishonesty, criminality, and sexual promiscuity or immorality.

Mental characteristics, including but not limited to accusations of stupidity, intellectual capacity, and mental illness, as well as unsupported comparisons among politically correct (PC) groups based on inherent intellectual traits.

2. Highlighted section:

The document allows allegations of mental illness or abnormality when tied to gender or sexual orientation, referencing political and religious discourse about transgenderism and homosexuality. It also acknowledges the non-serious use of terms like "weird."

A trans woman on tiktok posted about getting her gender marker changed on her Florida drivers license. Florida investigated her over it, canceled her license, and then leaked the story to libs of tiktok to announce it publicly to humiliate her.
The image shows a tweet by "Libs of TikTok" (@libsoftiktok), reporting on a trans activist who allegedly exploited a loophole in Florida law to change their gender marker on their driver's license. The tweet states that the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) responded with a letter acknowledging the error and promising to address it. It also claims Florida law does not permit gender marker changes based on gender identity and alleges the activist may have lied about losing their license to facilitate the change. Below the tweet, two elements are visible: a video still of the activist smiling and holding their license, and a letter from the FLHSMV dated January 6, 2025.The image is a detailed letter from the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), dated January 6, 2025, addressing the improper change of a driver's license gender marker from male to female. It explains that the change violated Florida law, which defines "sex" based on biological and genetic characteristics and prohibits alterations based on gender identity. The letter confirms the cancellation of the improperly issued license, issuing a corrected license instead. It also discusses potential misrepresentation of facts during the application process and warns of legal consequences for providing false information. The letter is signed by Dave Kerner, Executive Director.
