You never know what's going on in someone else's life. But today I went to the public #swimming #pool and an old lady there complained that there were other people (the public) swimming (in the swimming place) and getting her wet (at the pool). And I can't judge her because I just don't understand.

#CartAugust All the blue lines on the map are rivers! The biggest is the Lifebringer, which runs across much of western Isaia. It's relatively safe to navigate, though there are high cliffs above it in places. Prior to the war, it was a major waterway, with goods being brought up and down via boat.

#AugustWorldbuilders I'm going to share a snippet in here. This is Raesella, my teacher character in Born to Die. Her students are mostly 4-7. She was known to be strict, but caring and kind in the classroom. Outside it, she was more of an introvert, but had a strong sense of duty.

“If we stay here, the bad men will find us. They will come here, and they will torture you, and force you to do terrible things, and kill you. They might do that last one by burning you alive.”
Twenty three pairs of terrified eyes stared at her.
“If we leave this schoolhouse… The same thing might happen.”
A few of the smaller children began to cry.
“But it might not. We have a chance. We might escape.” Raesella looked at them. “Do you remember I taught you definitely and probably?”
The children nodded.
“If we stay here, we will definitely die. If we leave, we will only probably die.” Her voice trembled. “Those that want to come with me, raise your hand.”
Twenty three hands went into the air.

Isaia itself is pretty much entirely explored and mapped out. I did originally have plans for a continent to the north called the forbidden continent, but that's been largely scrapped and there's islands up there now. Most are uninhabited, but maps have a general idea of where they are. #CartAugust

I want waterfeet
to walk this burning world

tall forests fall to fiery ground

mouth wind-blistered
skin spark-stung I watch
as streams crackle and steam....

they are burning.

with little hope

Makso opened and closed his mouth, then shook his head. “You can't expect me to believe that. This has gone far enough.” He stepped past Volanci and strode over to Kasirai. “Come here, little one.”

Your male MC calling Delisia 'little girl' is sexist and demeaning. Ok, first, yes, that's the entire point. He's insulting her. Second, and more importantly, in earlier chapters he refers to her brother Akira as 'little boy.' No problem with that, huh.

She had known the White Rush, the river that ran through Liansis, to burst its banks four times while she was a child, the water eagerly gulping up the surrounding land. Except that had been greenland, a place for plants and wildlife. Here in Crisom it was concrete and buildings, bricks and cobblestone.
And the entire lot of it was currently twenty-five spans underwater.
