This is weasely bullshit. The Tories could reverse it at any time in government and the triple lock ratchet would reappear as if it never went away. The reason they won’t is because they know it’s unsustainable and also want the savings it would produce.

The whips spent months telling No10 they were going to lose the welfare vote and then half of them got accused of colluding with the rebels rather than conveying what was correct and useful information. And when this became apparent they just got rid of half the whips.
