law enforcement officials say they made a proactive check at Rep. Hortman's home after a lawmaker who lived nearby was shot and found a "police vehicle in the driveway with emergency lights and what appeared to be a police officer at the door coming out of the house." He was actually the gunman.

Dude is a VET — former army combat engineer. Had legitimate purpose in entering the public building, to go to a veteran’s affairs appointment. His EarPods were in & he had no reason to think caution tape meant anything other than maybe “wet cement” or “loose brick”? Not “get tackled by a marine.”

Just finished up at the Evanston No Kings rally. It was safe, peaceful, and a show of solidarity by *at least* 1,000 people. Go to your local protest. Don’t let this administration scare you. Stand with your community when our leaders won’t.
