my gamedev experience is more tactical than active but I want to believe one can aim for a level of physicality, while being downstream of like the main things you want to "say" with gameplay, it's still the filtered juice you are striving for, what subconscious will make you play a game again for.

a very smart observation and I'm inclined to agree, except I'll prod at the idea of difficulty driving better design: at a lowbrow but broadest level, there's the whole bit where if the fixation is on difficulty, then any abrasiveness is explained as a problem between chair and controller.

a thing I've lamented after playing ds1 and watching the genre take off since is that there was this undue attention on difficulty when so many satisfying tactile elements were right there. like only MH talks about weapon feel in remotely the same way and even then it's kinda fighting game coded

Saw the pilot and it felt extremely that: a pilot, definitionally, to show promise. Made me feel too marketed to. When I decry disney shows it's not even a corpo angle, it's like their sense of humor and attitude, maybe easier to say it's too baby, but even as a kid I was embarrassed to watch them.

the one drawing tip i that i feel confident in giving and that i find actually works is: make the character you're drawing feel alive as soon as possible, that way you feel a connection to them and will be motivated to finish the drawing. this can be done by just drawing the jaw,mouth and eyes first
