Looking out to the dark sea at night, with just the tips of the waves visible. On the horizon a streak of bright orange from lightning.A garden swimming pool in low light with a cottage & trees in dark silhouette and a hot orange patch of sky as the sun sets. Looking out over the sea & headland from a high viewpoint as the sun begins to set.A single figure walking on a clear beach towards the edge of the sea under a big cloudy sky late in the evening.

That's what I mean though, that's a lot of infrastructure to support one plane, and for how long? If you built a new one it would be ongoing. Although it sounds like they need the SR71 to bootstrap new programs... I don't know! 😁

This is gravitational lensing. Where the a bunch of galaxies are so, so massive they distort the fabric of spacetime itself, and bend the light from background galaxies billions of lightyears more distant.
From the source: "A massive galaxy cluster, made of many golden elliptical galaxies with the largest, brightest one in the centre. Heavily distorted orange galaxies appear all around the cluster, the largest concentrated in a large arc around the cluster's centre; these are images of very distant galaxies, created by gravitational lensing. A few galaxies are large and bluish-white in colour; bright, nearby stars are the same colour."

I get on ok shooting with the screen. Sometimes on sunny days you can't always see exactly what you've shot, but I just pretend I'm shooting film or something. Top tip: I have a custom side button shortcut to change the screen brightness.

Shortly after that photo was taken Nasa went bankrupt -- the cost of developing helmets to allow free flowing hair and sax playing in a hard vacuum proved too costly.

Have they even solved the heat shield issues? If they have to keep sticking them back on (like the Shuttle) they won't get the launch cadence they need to make it work.

I agree they're making a meal of it. But it did launch a load of v3s to orbit today, so that's not nothing. The mod for a larger payload door is probably relatively easy to do. Engine reliability seems a bit iffy.

Panel 2: the POV flips to the bat’s upside-down perspective, which makes the digital numbers look like they spell “BOOBIES”. The bat appears delighted.
