People with zero inner lives, imagination or curiosity, playing out their god complexes. This is basically a child journaling with the expectation that his fantasies become real. And from what I can tell, every membership of the leadership/exec class is on this spectrum of AI psychosis.

The reveal at the end of the first episode made me literally laugh out loud with disbelief. The MCU-fication of absolutely everything.

A truly lovely little show. Melancholy and hilarious with tonal shades of Detectorists.

The cross-industry (and -government) conviction at the leadership level that Silicon Valley is the model to emulate is going to turn out cataclysmic. Process is well on its way already. Everyone wants to be a goddamn SV CEO.

The 24/7 background drone of sociopaths playing wronged victim as they run away with the wiring in our collective walls could neuter dogs at a 100 yards. Some days, it is more mentally exhausting than the policy-related damage. Some days.

Many thanks to the @britfantasysoc.bsky.social for the lovely award, & to @subpress.bsky.social for kindly shipping it to me in India (& publishing the book it's for!). THE LAST DRAGONERS OF BOWBAZAR is a book I'm very proud of, with a v small readership, so I'm truly grateful for the recognition.
Photo of a framed 2024 British Fantasy Award for Best Novella, awarded to The Last Dragoners of Bowbazar by me. The text for the award is set in clear resin against a pale blue and sandy brown background, and the resin holds a dragon's skeleton framing the text.

The center and left don't understand this *within* borders. They don't even understand it on a dinky little website with twelve people on it.

In my experience it was generally the former. Mainly because I have managed to keep my life very separate from the sort of people who rant against foreign films.

The single most overrated movie of the last few years. I got so tired of trying to explain why I did not, in fact, light up every time someone told me they loved it.

What is the mechanism they've leveraged to reduce naturalizations by that much? Surely they're not rejecting that many N400s, given that LPRs are the most vetted people around and the apps are generally legit?

So great. I wish he'd find better dramatic projects to star in these days. Much as I'd happily watch him do Alan Partridge shows till the end of time.

Expect projects like this to become rare. WB and Paramount are being folded into Skydance. Evidence of their unique corporate identities will get scrubbed, as when Disney took over Fox. And the recent execs who were barely interested in history are being replaced with people who have zero interest.

My newly-rightwing relative recently told me the mainstream media is all propaganda and opinion now and he wants just facts and not to be told what to think. Then sent me a YT video of a *documented* Russian propagandist speaking to a *convicted fraud* about how the EU will/deserves to collapse.

Thank you and consider doing this for other kinds of shows too? Stevie Wonder tickets at MSG sold out even though they were $300 and up and are on resale for $1000 plus. Working people used to afford seeing their favorite bands multiple times a year! Now we're selling kidneys for annual nosebleeds.
