I reanalyzed the CDC data behind the LGB “free fall” headline. It rests on a change in bisexual identification among one grade, in one wave, of one survey. Gay or lesbian identification did not change significantly. Calling it a "free fall" is sensational and just gives bad actors talking points.
Six small line charts showing the percent of U.S. high school students choosing each sexual identity response option by grade (9th to 12th), 2015 to 2025, with 95% confidence intervals. Heterosexual falls from about 85 to 90 percent before 2021 to about 73 percent in 2021 and 2023, then rises to about 78 to 80 percent in 2025. Gay or lesbian stays between about 2 and 5 percent throughout. Bisexual rises to about 12 percent in 2021 in every grade, then among 9th graders falls to about 7 percent in 2025, its 2019 level, while other grades stay near 10 percent. “Some other way,” added in 2021, falls from about 4 percent to about 2.5 percent. “Not sure” stays near 3 to 5 percent. A dotted line marks 2021, when CDC changed the response options.

Ossoff: "I think Pete Hegseth is frankly a deeply unwell person who seems to relish this kind of brutality all the while he's running a department that is falling into chaos. The guy cannot run the military competently and is spending his time with this kind of obscene medieval spectacle."

I suppose if you had a posted copy without code numbers, and then a local copy with code numbers, and a further code number key to identifying data, that would help verifiability while maintaining anonymity (assuming no further possibly identifying data like demographics are involved)?

In other words, a 10 percent contraction in one of Britain’s most successful exports. If it were steel or fish or other infinitely less profitable sectors, people would be having a meltdown.

Daniel, we are hung up on the GDPR issues with Zenodo you mentioned in your blog post. Is there any resolution in sight? We think this will be necessary for organisations in GDPR-observing countries to come around and officially endorse it.

My disappointment is different. There's been no fight or even mention of the ways unis post-pandemic bend rules to nullify industrial action - riding roughshod over their own regulations and external examiners. If degrees can be awarded without proper marking or teaching, strikes are useless.

It is funny that people like her and Rees-Mogg feel empowered to say something, anything against the racists, whereas Labour characters either think it shouldn't have to be said or don't feel able to naysay the Volk Nixon, China and all that

I don't know if this is a direct inspiration - it lacks the "beating you half to death" step - but it's certainly a fine example of the old nat-20 on Intimidation. from Lord Dunsany, The Hoard of the Gibbelins (1912)
Now Alderic determined to go up against him. So he took horse and spear and pricked till he met the dragon, and the dragon came out against him breathing bitter smoke. And to him Alderic shouted, "Hath foul dragon ever slain true knight?" And well the dragon knew that this had never been, and he hung his head and was silent, for he was glutted with blood. "Then," said the knight, "if thou would'st ever taste maiden's blood again thou shalt be my trusty steed, and if not, by this spear there shall befall thee all that the troubadours tell of the dooms of thy breed."

And the dragon did not open his ravening mouth, nor rush upon the knight, breathing out fire; for well he knew the fate of those that did these things, but he consented to the terms imposed, and swore to the knight to become his trusty steed.
