Very little in Officers file (including wrong paperwork) but a service record on Ancestry! I have written up his war service, but I lose trace of him in 1916 up to November 1916 which is really frustrating. Interestingly he signed off the 311th bde RFA war diary in Nov 18.

Ah, poor old Olive. Our dog Cassie had a heart murmur, but it didn't affect her. I still miss her even after 2 years since she left us.

@fourteeneighteen.co.uk Help required on this MIC! As an orderly at Baltic Corn Exchange Base Hospital I am assuming he would have been RAMC (thanks LLT!) and therefore qualify for 1914 Star. What does "issued by BRX" mean? Thanks for any help

I'm not sure to be honest - he may have learnt when he was in the Territorial Royal Field Artillery before the war. This is him in camp at Doncaster in 1914, I think just before war broke out.

I love things like this in war diaries. This is the 16th Battalion of the Rifle Brigade for their attack from Shrewsbury Forest on the 20th September 1917. Rifleman Burchell and 2nd/Lt Siebert from the Battalion rest in Godewaersvelde Cemetery.

This is a most strange war diary entry for the 13/9/1917 iro the 10th Bde Australian Field Artillery. Starts with the heavy damage to 37th Battery and then goes into great detail about 2 swans in the moat at Ypres....#WWI
