Every time a discourse kicks off over whether AI music, literature or art will be "as good as" the real thing, I'm always amazed more people don't cite that **there already are** creative pursuits where human-free spectacles have been available for decades, and nobody has ever wanted to watch them.

Here’s a behind-the-scenes peek at how ZD’s writing team decides what news is worth covering.

Gaming Leaks Reddit Post: Zelda movie announcement/trailer possibly coming tomorrow

Writer: What do we think about this? I'm not sure about the source.

Rod: > Bo Bragason, who plays Princess Zelda, also said on her IG: "excited for tomorrow"
Certainly nothing to write an article about. She could be excited about anything. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Alex: A 22 year old sharing on Instagram that's she's excited for tomorrow? Alert the media

Rod: Exactly. I was 22 and excited once.

Alex: I'm 26 and I get excited about grocery shopping

Josh: I'm 37 and get excited about grocery shopping. It never gets old Alex. Not for the true shoppers.

Correction: A company marketing a cartoon character obtained the cooperation of an opportunistic journalist for an infomercial, and it failed.

This was a great watch for anybody curious about how the public is receiving the news on OOT remake.

2. Because of the console's limitations, architecture on Nintendo 64 inherently took on a very brutalist look. I recognize that look as part of the original OoT's identity these days. So, as nice as the new game looks, I'm seeing the buildings softened to meet the new style, and that's sad.

1. Voice acting. This is a major turn-off for me personally. If the Wild Era and Warriors games are any indication, I know I'll have to *immediately* change the cutscene dialogue to Japanese just to keep from cringing the whole game.

I forgot to mention two aspects of this Ocarina of Time remake that I see as definitive downgrades, one a deliberate artistic addition and one an unfortunate byproduct of the new art style. (Thread)

Some new personal work where I haven’t make a poster in a while and thought I’d base it on Rez since it offered something that I could play about with while keeping it all abstract and psychedelic in tone. #illustration #illustrator #madeinaffinity #poster #videogame

What’s up with that weird Majora’s Mask logo?

021

Rod Lloyd @rodthemaster.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

I really wish I could explain the change, haha. Part of me thinks you’re on to something about someone not having the proper font installed. Could be that the well got poisoned somewhere and this version persists because of that.

Rod Lloyd @rodthemaster.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

I did a reverse image search on the logo with the distinct font, and there are instances of that logo being used (primarily on European game sites) as early as 2018. I couldn’t track down a source, but it’s been out there.

A screenshot from the Ocarina of Time remake. Link stares up at Death Mountain. Every bit of the environment has a shimmery moistness.

A drawing from a manga magazine with Link to the Past Link holding up a sword with a pink-haired fairy next to them. To me it looks like a female Link

Even if you don't stream, go turn this off. While it says "channel content" which implies streams, it'll likely be trying to capture your chat messages too. Don't think this doesn't affect you cause you don't stream. Turn it off. And check regularly to make sure it stays off.

This is the same old "you can't solve weightlifting with a forklift" thing that happens again and again with current consumer uses of AI: the point of reading a book is not to finish the book easily, it's to READ the book, especially if the book asks you to do something that feels difficult

I would like to see more companies admit this - being a public company no longer means running a successful, thriving business. It strictly means delivering growth to investors, every single quarter, who do not care at all about the product the company sells or the people who produce it.
