With US average gasoline prices at $4.63 per gallon, it now costs about 3.7 times more to drive a mile in a gasoline car than in an electric car. Gasoline: $4.63 per gallon / 28 miles per gallon = 16.5 c per mile Electric: 15 c per kWh * 0.3 kWh per mile = 4.5 c per mile
