Given the state’s a massive employer itself it could be doing a lot more itself, eg in NHS and it need to most use its view of apprenticeships. Having multi level apprenticeships would provide a vocationally equivalent route to higher level technical and professional work, it just first jobs.1/3 W

Not all unions are pro drilling, @thecsp isn’t for example - largely this with members working in oil and gas (not surprisingly) while those in health see the health implications of climate change and rising costs if delivering healthcare due to global warming

Increasingly frustrated at the inability of the NHS - at alll levels - to grasp you need a whole pipeline workforce planning approach, so if you want more B6 or advanced physios you also need to expand the number of B5 NQ you recruit !

Brexit debate broke the liberal consensus and unleashed and legitimised extremism. But even amongst people drawn to the far right as a protest there are many who can be drawn back from radicalisation. That needs to be a key response.

In 2011 we did have a referendum on changing the voting system (to AV) but peopel voted to keep FPTP, any change would need a new referendum with no guarantee that the electorate would vote for it.

The EHRC’S new code has been published. We’ll have a detailed analysis out shortly. The guidance has been toned down from the previous draft – but it still treats trans people like they’re a third sex. This pushes trans people out of public life and violates their human rights.
