Thys hath been shared recentlye by several folks on thys syte
A quotation -- Author Kurt Vonnegut on telling his wife he's going out to buy an envelope: "Oh, she says well, you’re not a poor man. You know, why don’t you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet? And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I’m going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope. I meet a lot of people. And, see some great looking babes. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And, and ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don’t know. The moral of the story is, is we’re here on Earth to fart around. And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And, what the computer people don’t realize, or they don’t care, is we’re dancing animals.”

An apple is… “the story of the sunshine that smiled upon it, of the winds that whispered to it, of the birds that sang around it, of the storms that visited it, and of the motherly tree that held it and fed it until its petals were unfolded and its form developed.” - Lucy Larcom
Apple blossom and fruit collage showing the changing stages of an orchard through the seasons. Delicate white and pink apple blossom beside deep pink buds in spring; clusters of small red apples hanging against an old brick wall; pale green apples ripening among leaves; and rosy-red apples growing on branches in late summer. Soft-focus backgrounds give the images a luminous, painterly quality.

It's the Spring Equinox - the first astronomical day of spring! ☀️ Longer days. Lighter evenings. Sunshine warm on your skin, birds singing, blossom in the branches.
Golden sunlight bursts through a tangle of budding trees, casting long beams of light across a mossy woodland floor. New green shoots push up through leaf litter and patches of moss, catching the glow of the morning sun. A soft haze fills the air, with a hint of warmth and life returning to the woods.

“Go a-mothering and find violets in the lane” is an old saying tied to the custom of gathering violets for Mothering Sunday, #MothersDay in the UK, kept on the fourth Sunday of Lent, three weeks before Easter. To celebrate mothers everywhere, violets painted by Anne Cotterill. 💜
Still-life painting of a loose bunch of purple violets with heart-shaped green leaves spilling from a small cream earthenware jug decorated with blue pastoral scenes. The jug sits on a pale surface against a warm beige background, painted in Anne Cotterill’s soft, expressive brushstrokes.

Once upon a time primroses had smooth leaves, but rain ran down them and spoiled the flowers. The primrose fairy worried so much that wrinkles formed on her brow. Magicking them away, she pressed them into the leaves, where to this day they guide rain safely away from the blooms.
Illustration of the Primrose Fairy by Cicely Mary Barker: a small fairy with pale yellow wings and a primrose-petal dress holding a large primrose flower and its wrinkled leaf, the creases clearly visible, against a soft natural background.

Milk Street in #Shrewsbury has a name rooted in its medieval past. Back then, the town centre was alive with trade, and streets like Butcher Row, Fish Street, and Milk Street marked where each type of produce was sold. #urbansketcher #shrewsburyart #sketchbook #pleinair #travelsketches #Shropshire

A snowflake, lamenting its brief life, was touched by a sunbeam’s pity. As it melted into the earth, it was reborn as a flower, white as snow, its petals tipped with green. Thus the snowdrop came to unfurl its blooms each winter, a herald of spring’s approach. #FolkloreThursday
