Absolutely!! And if you look at the P page, the pomeranian is the illustrator's dog, Mr Pants. Both of them now very much missed- and both will make an appearance in the sequel!

Please remember that for every VE Schwab and Stephen King, there are a lot of banned Black, queer, and POC writers you've never heard of, to whom it is maybe not a badge of honor but a denial of their voice. Being banned is not a marketing opportunity, unless one is already rich.

THIS. So disheartening to see a banned book display featuring only classics or books banned in the 1980s. (Also, if your banned book display doesn't include kids' books or books by 2SLGBTQ+ and BIPOC authors, it is...well, let's just say out of date.)

The vast majority of the thousands of books being banned every year–the dozens *every single day*–are simply forgotten about or not talked about at all. 96% or more never get a moment of attention for being banned because they've simply disappeared.

The death penalty is a moral abomination. State-sanctioned barbarism pushed by incompetent morons and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. Absolute ghoul shit. www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news...
The lone woman on Tennessee's death row was still alive after she was administered two lethal injections, her lawyer said in a motion seeking to halt her execution Wednesday night, a stunning development after the Supreme Court had stepped in to allow the state to put her to death.
At 8:26 p.m. local time, witnesses said
"executioners had injected both syringes of lethal injection chemicals and Pike is still alive and snoring," her lawyers said in a federal court filing.
They said Pike "has not lost consciousness and still has a heartbeat," and that curtains to the death chamber "have gone down twice."

There were so many untrue things that were said about Pride Puppy- and obviously this was far from the worst, given that a SCOTUS judge suggested it was about bondage (dog on a leash?)- but it got under my skin more than most, because JOURNALISM MATTERS. And it should be truthful, always.

As kids say, I have a connection! Sarah Isgur lied about Pride Puppy, claiming it had "graphic sex stuff," that C was for "clamps," and every character wore leather chaps. When the illustrator pointed out that this was all untrue, she replied that the facts about our book weren't "legally relevant."

This is state-mandated book banning being perpetuated here. It is the Dan Patrick level "we're going to downgrade your school" banning from Texas, but in Florida. Thousands of books will be removed, and you'll probably never know about it.
