Absolutely!! And if you look at the P page, the pomeranian is the illustrator's dog, Mr Pants. Both of them now very much missed- and both will make an appearance in the sequel!

My latest is THE BOOK OF JUPITER, about a girl who has grown up in an isolated community with an authoritarian, charismatic leader. Ara's been taught never to ask questions- the book is about what happens when she does. Starred reviews from Kirkus and Booklist! It's my favorite of all my novels!
Book cover. An illustrated cover showing a girl with long red hair and a white dress standing in an orchard. Behind her is a wire fence, and in the night sky overhead hangs a huge planet. The title is in white and reads "The Book of Jupiter." The author's name is at the bottom of the page- "Robin Stevenson"

I haven't seen anyone mention my unlikely favorite Tim Curry movie (not counting Rocky Horror obvs!). Times Square came out in 1980 and was one of the first movies I saw with a queer relationship between two girls. Tim Curry plays a radio DJ, Johnny LaGuardia, and was so good (as was Robin Johnson!)

Spring 2027, Orca.Text reads: how it started: in May 2025, our book PRIDE PUPPY was at the center of a case at the US supreme Court- the hearing had taken place and the decision was yet to come. We met up for drinks one evening and what started as a joke- making another book together- began taking shape. Were we actually serious?! New story from Margaret Atwood 😂
Screenshot of a tweet from Margaret Atwood from X.

Here's a piece of literature by me, suitable for seventeen-year-olds in Alberta schools, unlike -- we are told -- The Handmaid's Tale. (Sorry, kids; your Minister of Education thinks you are stupid babies.)

John and Mary were both very, very good children. They never picked their noses or had bowel movements or zits. They grew up and married each other, and produced five perfect children without ever having sex. Although they claimed to be Christian, they paid no attention to what Jesus actually said about the poor and the Good Samaritan and forgiving your enemies and such; instead, they practised selfish rapacious capitalism, because they worshipped Ayn Rand. (Though they ignored the scene in The Fountainhead where “welcomed rape” is advocated, because who wants to dwell, and also that would have involved sex and would de facto be pornographic. Well, it kind of is, eh?) Oh, and they never died, because who wants to dwell on, you know, death and corpses and yuk? So they lived happily ever after. But while they were doing that The Handmaid’s Tale came true and Danielle Smith found herself with a nice new blue dress but no job. The end.

Canadian authors and illustrators are speaking up against book bans in Canada, especially recent moves by Alberta's government to censor books in schools. If you are a published Canadian author or illustrator, please join us! CAIABB sign up page: www.karijones.ca/canadian-aut...

Authors & Illustrators Speak Out Against Book Bans In Alberta. Text reads:
Canadian Authors and Illustrators Against Book Bans, a group of published writers and artists from across the country, strongly opposes the recent efforts by the Alberta government to ban books in the province’s schools.
We support the rights of young people to read freely and to access books in which they may see people like themselves and their families on the page, and in which they may learn about the lives of other people different from themselves.
We support their right to find the stories they need and the information they seek.
Slide 2:
Text reads: The reality is that young people have access to many kinds of media and various forums for content.
Books, especially now, are a crucially important and appropriate way for them to learn about all topics, including sex and sexuality, as they develop their understanding of the world and their own relationships and identities.

In the context of rising censorship and anti-2SLGBTQIA+ backlash in the United States, we are particularly distressed to see a Canadian province adopting the same book banning playbook pushed by far-right American groups like Moms for Liberty.
We are concerned that the new guidelines will be used to target 2SLGBTQIA+ books, a practice that not only censors books and undermines student access, but also sends a harmful message that stigmatizes 2SLGBTQIA+ people and suggests that stories about them do not belong in schools.
Footer: Canadian Authors & Illustrators Against Book Bans.Slide 3:
As writers and illustrators, we support the work done by teachers and librarians to develop diverse and inclusive collections in schools, and we urge all levels of government to consult with them about any issues related to books in schools.
As writers — and for some of us, also as teachers and as parents — we understand the value and importance of allowing students to choose the literature they want.
Students who choose the books they want are empowered, allowing them to improve literacy.
Footer: Canadian Authors & Illustrators Against Book Bans.

Slide 4:
We believe that the best way to ensure school libraries meet the wide-ranging needs of students is to provide adequate funding for school librarian positions.
Book bans do not protect children. Children do not need to be protected from books in their school libraries.
They do need to be protected from the kinds of hate, bigotry, and discrimination that often motivate attempts to ban books.
We stand against all attempts at book banning in Canadian schools and libraries, and we hope you will join us in this.

Text reads: children don't need protection from books; they need protection from hate and discrimination. Segregating books about queer people and treating these books differently from other books is discriminatory and has the potential to do real harm. We believe the Supreme Court is wrong to enable this kind of discrimination against children and families in public schools.

text reads: picture books like Pride puppy are a helpful resource for teachers who are working hard to create welcoming and supportive classrooms that include all kinds of kids from all kinds of families. It is unreasonable and absurd to expect teachers to hide the existence of an entire group of people. Schools cannot make queer students and families invisible without harming all students- because while inclusive picture books do not harm children, shame, stigma, and erasure do.
1152
Robin Stevenson @robinstevenson.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
text reads: We also believe that all children deserve the chance to learn about the diversity of the world they share. All our kids attend public schools together. Regardless of their family's religious faiths, political views, and connections to the queer community, they share classrooms and playgrounds. Teachers have a responsibility to make sure that all their students feel seen and included, and to support them as they learn about each other.

Text reads: Pride puppy is a joyful alphabet book that was inspired by our own experiences at Pride parades and festivals, where families of all kinds come together to celebrate. Millions of children have a queer parent, and many identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community themselves. We've heard from countless parents about how much it means to them and their kids to see people like themselves reflected in a book. All children deserve to see their families- and themselves- represented in the stories they read.
