It has been 170 years since Eunice Foote showed that CO₂ warms air, 165 years since John Tyndall explained the mechanism, and 130 years since Svante Arrhenius quantified its impact on climate. Few scientific findings have stood the test of time so well, yet climate change denial remains widespread.

If Spurs end up selling Bergvall too, how do you rate our chances of assembling a genuinely competitive squad for European competition next season? The home-trained spots will be tough to fill, and even if our injury problems are reduced by half, surely there's still a real risk we'll struggle?

6 (7)/ As the Arctic warms and vegetation shifts, AM fungi may become more prevalent—potentially changing carbon storage dynamics. Ignoring AM fungi in Arctic studies risks missing a big piece of the puzzle.

5 (7)/ Soil properties (pH, SOM) and climate (growing season temperature) were stronger predictors of fungal composition than vegetation type. Bottom-up factors > top-down herbivory for most fungi.
110
Robert G. Björk @robertgbjork.bsky.social · 05/12/2025
4 (7)/ Why does this matter? AM fungi are near their ecological limits in the Arctic. Changes in herbivory or warming could amplify their response, altering plant–fungal interactions and nutrient cycling.
110
Robert G. Björk @robertgbjork.bsky.social · 05/12/2025
3 (7)/ What did we find? - Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi were most sensitive to herbivore exclusion. - Ectomycorrhizal (EcM) and ericoid (ErM) fungi showed no consistent response.

Robert G. Björk @robertgbjork.bsky.social · 05/12/2025
