I love a game that works out my hardware. Its a shame that yummy path tracing had to come at a time that the hardware to run has become prohibitively expensive :/ What card you got? I've gotten decent results with 3080ti I got a while ago

It's a buffet, and they want to make it an enjoyable buffet. Giving options to curate your buffet experience just makes sense.

But there's also a lot of design space that is just inherently messy and variable. Where the scale of design means that sort of neatness becomes impractical, or where the creator is less concerned with creating a "perfect experience" since it's not obtainable in the first place.

There's nothing I love more than a game designed so tightly that it presents you with just THE GAME, and nothing else. Minimal options, there's nothing that could be cut. Lean steak, perfect mushrooms, and a sauce to tie it together.🤌

I don't see an argument here beyond anxious vibes. Do you have more substantial thoughts on this?

Nintendo isn't great because they're an isolated. They're great because they are in a constant, evolving conversation with the medium.

The idea that Nintendo doesn't let the "ideas of others" seep in is plainly a little ridiculous. Splatoon exists because Nintendo wanted to try a shooter of their own. BotW's director explicitly stated Skyrim as an inspiration. Smash Bros is a celebration of gaming at large.

I also don't see how adding a jump button even adds to the conversation here. It's not like the game was based around not being able to jump.

I've always loved when Nintendo tried higher detail. Twilight Princess was this for the Gamecube. I think people got the idea that Nintendo games would always be compromised from a rendering perspective compared to their peers, when I don't think that was ever an intentional decision.

This feels like you are conflating a dislike of AAA exclusive pursuit of high fidelity with Nintendo's recent high fidelity exploration. Beyond being very detailed, I don't see anything here that's reminiscent of EA, Ubisoft, or Activision.

RoastCabose @roastcabose.bsky.social · 11/09/2026
OoT Remake is definitely very high fidelity, but I struggle to see how that means they're "following in the steps of EA and Ubisoft". Artistically, it's definitely not aiming at hyper realism, but instead Nintendo experimenting with high fidelity, since they now have the power to do so.

What if I merely disagree? I personally don't think it's the peak of the series, but I think it's easy to see why people do. I think begrudging people who think something else is peak is just a bit childish, especially in such a storied and evolving series.

The last game came out two years ago??? There are nearly 30 games released in 40 years? Even filtering out spinoffs that's still 21 games in 40 years, meaning they average a game every other year.

How is this any different than those previous iterations? This is just like the swing from Wind Waker to Twilight Princess. How is this remake against older Zelda any more than any other Zelda? Also, the games are definitely not tonally consistent. Like, explicitly so.

This is my only actual grievance this is so god damn dumb Its never going to be enough to put me off, but this better not follow us for the rest of the series

They don't pretend it doesn't exist, its like their baseline for how the series looks, all the "generic" zelda brand art is based on it WHICH IS WHY ITS FUCKIN CRAZY THERE'S STILL NO SWITCH RELEASE WTF

If you see this, post your art with marginalia! (I LOVE A GOOD BORDER)
A watercolor painting of an anthropomorphic rabbit garden trimming the hedges of a labyrinth. Chickadees eat seeds he has strewn in the path. Border panels around the central illustration depict scenery from around the maze- a medieval tower and fairground, and various fountains and ornaments.A watercolor painting featuring an anthropomorphic rooster captain at the helm of a ship. Beyond him is a map and a little inset seascapeA watercolor painting of an anthropomorphic black bear in monks robes, doing a gay little illumination of him and his secret deer bf having a clandestine meeting in the woods. The illustration is bordered by medieval-style vines in a rainbow gradient arching above him.A watercolor painting in olive green-golds, chartreuse, orange and grey. Mist swirls around a robed anthropomorphic owl in some kind of catacomb. Roots crawl down the wall above the entryway. The owl holds a gnarled staff in one hand and a glowing orb in the other. Stone niches behind her display candles and reliquaries. The panels flanking the central image show ornately decorated bones of a deer leg on the left, and on the right, a closeup of an elk skull wrapped in pearls with a semiprecious gem in the eye socket.

One of the greatest things a mentor can do is challenge you, not just technically, but also in thought. Documentation is great. But it will never point out your strengths or weaknesses, a linear thought process or a bad habit. Online guides can't notice misunderstandings. Mentors are undervalued.

I'm finally digging into the cross tabs underlying the @searchlightinst.bsky.social memo telling Dems not to talk about climate change. It surprised me, but may not surprise you, that the memo lies about what US swing voters actually said in the polling. Let's have a look, shall we? 🧵

Digital illustration made in Procreate depicting a warmly lit home office in the early 2000s. On the office desk is a teal and white early iMac G3. A black cat is half-crouched with the computer mouse in its mouth, staring at the viewer as though caught mid-hunt.

The scene is littered y2k objects. The wall has a poster of Rihanna and of Britney Spears' "Oops!... I Did It Again" album cover. Items on the office desk include a blank CD stack, a pink lava lamp, a VHS on top of a Blockbuster case, and an old landline phone.

Personally, I love Zelda lore, it just comes with requirement that there is no canon. Personally, I like that because you never know how something is going to get reintroduced, reinterpreted, included or not. I guess what im saying is zelda is jazz
