Important to remember the Onion is an oligarch-owned media outlet and works hard to advance oligarch interests

It was a good tweet though.
Your kid's birthright is to have no competition getting into college?

Oh, well my kid's birthright is to live in the country that all the nerds move to because it's the place where nerds can get rich.

It's true. want to irrevocably change the culture of the US. I want to make it nerdier.

Babysitting has some big downsides over working at the grocery store too - irregular hours, much more responsibility and stress, etc

Harvard successfully argued to a federal appeals court that they don’t have to admit more Asians because we have shitty personalities. That was in 2020. Conservatives have now re-derived this argument from first principles docs.justia.com/cases/federa...

Every work fantasy league is a fucking chore by week 2. People like March Madness brackets because you sit down for a few minutes and then you're done.

Btw "sportsball" is cringe when said by dweebs who don't know the rules of football but when it's said by dudes tired of streaming defenses in their 14 team work league it's actually extremely good

I would definitely have AI play fantasy football for me are you serious "oh no I have to be on my phone when it's announced on Friday morning that the starting RB for the 20th best run offense in the league is out for two games" gtfoh

I think the q is pretty straightforward - do you think that it can do math at some level of accuracy better than you'd expect from a "fancy auto complete" without tool calls. Bender basically denies this. You are very squirrelly about this. I think it's obviously true (and gave an example).

Yeah imo the biggest issue with game of thrones is actually that the middle season dragged. Like why is Dany in Meereen for 3 seasons. The final season would have benefited from 2 more episodes but it felt all the more rushed bc of how slowly everything had unfolded.

Hotd is good as a binge watch now that they have enough eps out. Season 2 as a standalone was so incomplete though.

Lost doesn't count, they were never gonna stick that landing. Dexter is still rewatchable season to season. Game of Thrones is still good, sorry to the haters.

River_Tam @rivertam.bsky.social · 22h
Like if Pam and Jim divorced at the end of The Office or if Ross had died at the end of Friends, it would have completely destroyed the rewatchability of the show.

Yeah the answer has to be a sitcom like HIMYM. The rewatch value on a show like that in syndication/streaming is so high if the ending isn't total bullshit.

"why would I ever need a task to be done faster" come on, guys. Because we're dying. Because we are literally all dying all the time. Because we're running out of time. The fact that it's often hard to measure or stupidly measured doesn't mean "saving time" isn't an important thing to human beings

My conjectures: 1. People who work hard in these places either get out or fail, so if you compare people around you, you learn that effort is a waste. 2. Evangelicalism. Hustling to help others is doomed (world going to hell), hustling for yourself is greed. A great excuse for laziness.
