I think a lot about how an ex-boyfriend of mine once got mugged after an intense night out and none of our friends or anyone we talked to about it ever implied that he was asking for it because he chose to get drunk.

Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

Terrific reporting by @sherylnyt.bsky.social Also, financial conflicts of interest are a key plank of the MAHA movement—wherever you look, there are conflicts (e.g., RFK Jr’s peptides advisory panel: riddled with people who make money selling peptides!) The grifting is off the charts

I believe fraternity hazing and military hazing and sports team hazing where men abuse each other is acclimating them into a broader culture of abuse where they will then believe it is their right to abuse other more vulnerable people. It’s so insidious. And that’s also why I think men defend it

David Quammen's essay in The New York Times today closes with this paragraph. It's both a scientific falsehood, and an incredibly dangerous narrative. If you're willing to give me five minutes of your time, I'd like to explain why.
The Ebola virus doesn’t need to spill back. It abides in its reservoir host, and awaits its next opportunity. A virus can’t climb out of a bat or a monkey and fly off in search of human prey. It can only spill over. If humans left the reservoir host alone — not hunting it, not capturing it, not eating it, not exporting it live, not disturbing its forest habitat — the virus wouldn’t re-emerge in humans. It would remain where it is, harming no one. But of course that’s not what happens. And when viruses spill, they often spill into us, because the human population is such a big, busy target.

"Pennsylvania’s Measles Outbreak Is Enormous". Indeed it is. Given 4 _reported_ deaths from measles and given a 0.1% - 0.3% CFR, the true number of cases - currently reported at 731 - is likely a couple/few thousand. That is big - and 100% vaccine preventable. www.theatlantic.com/health/2026/...

Pennsylvania just announced the fourth death from measles this year. All patients were unvaccinated. This is so sad.
Pennsylvania Department of Health Confirms Two Additional Measles-Associated Deaths

Pennsylvania Department of Health has recorded four measles-associated deaths in 2026.

Getting vaccinated remains the best protection against measles, providing 97% lifetime protection after two doses.

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH) today confirmed two additional measles-associated deaths in Pennsylvania. Both individuals were unvaccinated. One individual lived in Jefferson County and the other lived in Mifflin County.

To protect the privacy of both individuals and their families, DOH will not be releasing any additional details that could personally identify them. While local officials in the respective counties where the deaths occurred may release more details about the deceased, DOH is bound by different laws that strictly limit what it can share publicly. The two additional deaths will be added to DOH’s measles dashboard Wednesday, as part of the regular update.

The best protection against measles remains getting fully vaccinated. The MMR vaccine, administered over two doses, boosts a person’s immune system and provides 97% lifetime protection.

Children’s Health “Defense” is the anti-vax organization that RFK Jr. founded. They are the same group that is proudly supporting the mother who has been charged with murdering her 18-month-old twins, but who is attempting to blame their deaths on vaccines. This is, as usual, disgraceful.
