I read the whole of ´The Right Way’, Badenoch’s foundational blueprint for the next 50 years. If any politico can look in a mirror and honestly say ‘I read all of it’, I’d love to hear your views.

I’ve resigned from the Green Party and hope others will too. This motion - and please read all of it - is immoral, politically illiterate and will only make legitimate debate about Israel’s conduct harder.

The King of the North needs to sort out the ECB. No Ashes test north of Nottingham in 2027! Including no game at Headingly, the only ground England always win at…failure to read the room AND self-harm.

Everyone wants to ‘end rough sleeping’ but really weird choice of Burnham today: a Not a specific cost of living pledge b Not a big pledge in the great scheme (however worthy), not ambitious c Weirdly dissonant with his devolution schtick. Rough sleeping will be solved locally

How does the bond market get spooked? We all say it but who actually sets off the spooked behaviours as a response to a government that wants to, you know, govern. Are there humans involved and who are they?

I absolutely guarantee that almost no-one who is jumping on the ‘cut benefits to pay for defence’ bandwagon actually knows sod all about defence policy. Still, let’s not let ignorance get in the way of punishing poor people

@goodlawproject.org I’m involved in a compulsory tenancy arbitration atm and if it weren’t so serious to me financially it would be laughable. I used to head up the policy team at the Law Society thought I could manage. Not so much! And there are others. Would you be interested in a case study?

Our government blames Iran for ‘de-stabilising the region’ by its attacks on allies of the US/Israel, closing down civilian air traffic, stopping oil and other goods passing through the Straits of Hormuz etc. I’m waiting for a journo to ask ‘what did you think they were going to do?’

The UK can't be dragged into another protracted Middle Eastern war by a US President. Keir Starmer needs to rule out the use of UK bases for any future unilateral US strikes.

Really concerned to hear the Defence Secretary refuse to rule out UK's involvement in future strikes on Iran. Iraq lessons must be learned. Further escalation in the Middle East makes us all less safe. Starmer must rule out UK involvement immediately.

For any lawyers out there, I’m involved in an arbitration and on a preliminary issue the arbitrator says he will award interest on costs against me on a daily compound basis with an annual rate of 25%, in his words this is ‘punitive’ to ‘deter’ late payment. Seems a bit harsh, no?

@stephenkb.bsky.social I am genetically programmed to hate Arsenal, but this throwback to George Graham team I’m developing a bit of a soft spot for. Clean sheets, corners and the understated genius of Saka. I’ve always, and unfashionably for the last 20 years, loved ‘pragmatic’ football.

After Starmer yesterday the debate has moved quickly to carers and how much they should be paid to ‘attract British workers’. If progressives accept we need migrant labour why accept the premise that British carers are somehow better than migrants? It’s a trap, pay and respect ALL carers fairly

Lawyers attack ‘dangerous’ decision to halt Sentencing Council guidelines
Society of Black Lawyers calls decision to block pre-sentencing reports ‘deliberate step backwards’ * UK politics live – latest updates Shabana Mahmood’s intervention to halt new guidelines on sentencing is “dangerous” and a “deliberate step backwards”, according to senior legal figures and prison campaigners. The Society of Black Lawyers said guidelines from the Sentencing Council, which were suspended after an intervention by the justice secretary, were an attempt to achieve “equal treatment” after “racist two-tier policing for 500 years”. At risk of first custodial sentence and/or at risk of a custodial sentence of 2 years or less (after taking into account any reduction for guilty plea). A young adult (typically 18-25 years. Female.
