He trailed off, expression thoughtful and food forgotten. Talyn took a moment to bask in the self-satisfaction of a job well done, until he turned his eyes on her again with a wistful grin.
“What is it?” she demanded.
“I just don’t think I’ve seen you smile before,” he said. “It’s really nice.”
Talyn frowned, embarrassed. “I am capable of smiling.”
“I know.”
The way he was looking at her now made her feel both distressingly vulnerable and comfortingly warm. Confused and conflicted, Talyn gestured for him to follow her back to the lift.
“We have a long agenda to complete,” she declared. “Please hurry.”

Sid's eyes were wide in shock when he pulled back. He saw the look on Sorrel's face and softened, kissing him again. He balanced Sorrel in one arm and opened the door.
On his feet again, Sorrel took a handful of Sid's shirt and pulled him down, walking slowly backward. He hit the side of the bed and fell back, smirking up at Sid.
'You sure about this?'
Sorrel nodded and then couldn't tear his gaze from Sid as he stripped, slow and confident…
He'd never given much thought to what Sid would look like naked, though he could at least admit to passing curiosity. Before Lu, Sorrel had heard the rumors around the castle about Sid's patience and prowess in bed. He knew he was popular. But finally seeing his bare, muscular torso, Sorrel couldn't help staring.
'Well? Your turn…'
Sorrel drunkenly nodded, pulling his shirt over his head. He felt the bed dip lower and paused. Hands carefully guided the collar of his shirt over his glasses without knocking them off.
Warm palms cradled his face as his shirt hit the floor. He sighed, letting Sid take the lead.
The rest of the night was disjointed and fuzzy.
Hazy warmth, lingering kisses, heat on his skin. Steam across his throat. Fingers gripping tight. Bodies grinding together.
Fuck!
He couldn't stop thinking about Sid!
He was so different from Lu. But he was still Lu's brother.

Sid gets a view outside of the prison he's been in for an unknown amount of time. Winters in Atoria are longer and colder than he's used to, and if you go far enough north the winter never ends. At least if what Lu said about the isolated, war-mongering country is correct #WIPSnips #VeilOfStarlight

The large window to his left wasn't rippled privacy glass like the washroom, and for the first time he could see what laid beyond the prison.
The wind blew hard, shaking snow from the thick conifers below.
"Where are we?" he asked without thinking, looking over the snow-covered, high-sloped mountain forest around them.
"Just south of central Atoria," she answered.
He wished he'd paid more attention to geography when he had a tutor as a child. He knew Nightfall inside and out after searching for Lu for several years, but he had almost no clue what the rest of the continent looked like. He remembered the view beyond the Nightfallen/Atorian border when he was in the back of a canvas-covered wagon, looking up through a small splitting seam. Were those the same mountains he was currently in? Or somewhere further in the country? How many mountain ranges laid between him and home?
They were at least three stories up if his comparison to Nightfall's capital castle was correct. The window didn't rattle, there was no draft as the trees bent in the wind and snow flurried wild enough to block the view for several seconds. He realized though his cell was downright frigid some nights, he rarely heard the wind. He could hardly hear it now.

Unrequited Love Switcharoo is when one confesses and the other isn't interested, and then later it's reversed. The one with the crush previously has moved on and the one without the crush is now the unrequited side. The Yandere couple is when two people are unstable and insane about each other.

Although not officially tracked, multiple sources I found online say the percentage of queer books published in 2025 is only about 4% of all books. According to Bowker (buff.ly/PGTFNDe) 4.2 million books were published in 2025. 4.2M x 4% = 168,000 books. That is ~*WAY*~ too low a number.

With the main antagonists Stella, Sol, and Gabriel, they struggle with how isolated they feel from everyone else. They have different reasons for ending up so distant from any real connections. It didn't start intentionally, but they did nothing to fix it either #AwesomeCharacters #VeilOfStarlight

Best my Dr. and I can tell is I pulled something really bad in my shoulder and it aggravated another thing I have wrong with that whole arm. That along with chronic inflammation means most of my arm and the left side of my back and neck have been in a lot of pain and super tense😅

10pm PT Shoulder/arm is doing better so I only took one muscle relaxer today instead of three and was able to at least spend time upright/mostly coherent😂 Partook less of a Legal Option today to stay relaxed and help with any inflammation, pain, and tension. #ScribesUnited
