This is a project that started with a workshop I ran at @rsaorg.bsky.social in 2021 (online). Of the great contributors to that session, three of us were rash enough to commit to producing an edition of Anne Southwell - the best early modern poet you’ve not yet read 1/2

#earlymodern who has written about all those 1630s oxford poetic miscellanies? (Strode, Corbett, Carew, some Jonson, Henry King). I thought it was Harold Love but can’t find anything!

My poetry class today (my first years are phenomenal) ranged from Dolly Parton to Catherine Connolly presenting Tr*mp with a copy of Longley’s Ceasefire via Victoria Kennefick’s “deposition” and Jane Robinson’s “begin present era.” Plus lots of discussion of pronouns.

Just so it's clear where England stands right now. The lady in the photo below, retired vicar Sue Parfitt, who is 84 years old, is considered a terrorist and was arrested 6th July. The masked group in the photo below are not considered terrorists & were allowed to roam freely.

Sue is 84 years old and was seated peacefully at an anti-genocide Palestine Action protest. There's another protestor visible in the photo. There are also 4 police officers.
