So order the Dredd Nordland hardcover from the 2000ad shop costs £33.81 or from Forbidden Planet for £22.24. That new postal rate still seems excessive

Good to see new work from Chris Webster. Hopefully it won’t be confined to instagram, which is difficult from me to see as I don’t have any account there

I’m always interested in getting hold of old annuals of tv shows with well known UK comic artists drawing them. Someone on Facebook highlighted the 1970s Magician annual has John Bolton art in it. So I got a copy. There’s another comic strip in there too. Looks to me like early work by David Lloyd?

Even before they were released on bail, I was wondering if there was actually any explosives in those vans, no one had confirmed anything. With them being released on bail would suggest there wasn’t any.

Comics I’ve finished reading over the last 4 months or so, and once again these aren’t all things I’ve purchased this year, some have sat in a box for up to 20 years or so… -I was pleased to finally read the rest of A Ghost Arm Made Of Angry Ghosts, it wasn’t a let down More comments in the alt text

There’s a Constable exhibition here in Ipswich, which has the Haywain on loan and ends next week. I find staring at his work quite calming, unfortunately it wasn’t when I saw the exhibition, as it was busy and lots of people were taking photos. I didn’t take pics, but I did photograph 5 of them

I’ve been reading the early 1990s Epic mini-series Dreadlands (some people travel back in time, fight some dinosaurs & aliens), contrasting it with Bad Idea’s Tankers series (some people travel back in time, fight some dinosaurs & aliens) There’s some Steve White dinosaurs in the back of Dreadlands

Looking at Norman Wisdom’s music selection on Desert Island Discs has made me google ‘who has picked their own songs on DID?’. A few people have. Apparently John Lee Hooker picked all his own songs.

Is there a glitch on the 2000ad website or have they increased their postage rates to insane amounts? To stick a £5.99 into a plastic bag (no protective packaging) and then sent via Royal Mail does not cost £7.20

It’s not a lost classic, but it’s an interesting curio and theunrealitystore.co.uk currently have all of Epic’s never reprinted Shadowline Saga in stock. Lots of interesting artists involved Bill Sienkiewicz, Klaus Janson, Kevin O’Neill, Brett Ewins, Jim Lee, Denys Cowan, Gray Morrow etc

A nice pick up recently from a local bookshop. Really lovely collection of black & white vintage Doctor Who photographs/stills. I was trying to work out where they might have come from originally? Were they available in Shops? The quality looks too good to be just run off from someone’s computer.

Blue Velvet opened in the USA today 40 years ago, but didn’t make it to UK cinemas until April 1987. By then it had already gained a certain amount of controversy ahead of its release here.

This week weekly comic anthology 2000 AD hits a major milestone with Prog 2500. Which got me thinking, I've been reading 2000 AD for over 20 years at this point, I was a reader when 1500 dropped in 2006. For this milestone I'm going to rank my top 20 strips that premiered during the last 1000 progs.

Cover to 2000 AD PROG 1500 by Boo Cook, featuring a large stop 1500 with a statue of Tharg the Mighty standing over a parade of Judges driving by, with a group of 2000 AD characters behind a barricade looking on.

Cover to 2000 AD PROG 2500 by Mike Perkins, featuring Judge Dredd on his bike.

In 1990, or early 1991, on an overcast day I went looking for inspiration around Ipswich docks/port/waterfront area for a painting I was supposed to be doing, hence there’s some paint marks on some photos. You can see an area being knocked down and looking generally run down.
