I was going to read this tonight, but notice there’s a Christmas story in there, so I’ll probably save it for a couple of months. Then totally forget to read it.

Just put ‘Oxford lecturer’ into the Bluesky search feature and press latest. I can see why everyone is interested in this, but I’d still be careful what I’d say about it

a controversial and dodgy looking website. Judging by the pop ups on the site, it doesn’t look legit. Court dates go back to July, but news sites only reported on it on Saturday. Anyway whatever is going on personally I’d be careful about accusing people in public, even on Bluesky.

I’m no legal expert, but something legal has gone on, maybe an injunction or the judge has put reporting restrictions on the case. Articles that appeared on Telegraph, Daily Mail and GBNews sites on Saturday disappeared by Sunday I think. Screenshots are also being shared of court dates taken from

I wonder if this is Marvel having a dig at DC’s Super Pets stories. This was about 25 years before Marvel’s Pet Avengers.

Yes, I saw them both at the Cambridge Corn Exchange. I don’t remember a huge amount about it, but I do remember PJ banging a staff on the floor, or am I misremembering that?

News sites have removed all the articles about this story which would suggest legal are involved so maybe an injunction. Though it’s possible I suppose the story is inaccurate, but then there’d be a correction somewhere & I haven’t seen one. Some people I notice are saying some in advisable comments

Reuben Willmott @reubs.bsky.social · 11/10/2026
It looks there’s something legal going on around that story about the Oxford Lecturer. The story has disappeared from news sites, or possibly people in the UK can’t see it anymore. So I would be careful about sharing those screenshots going round and I certainly wouldn’t be commenting on it!

It’s a bit early on a Saturday to be going to bed. Don’t they have any nightclubs in Hookland? Not even a haunted dancehall?

I hope that’s the way forward for others too. Serialised comics are tricky on Kickstarter as there’s usually long gaps between issues, if they ever appear at all, and with postage on top they work out expensive

Reuben Willmott @reubs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
I sometimes wonder if you hadn’t said anything when you did, how long it would of been until anyone else would of mentioned it. There’s still, i think, a taboo about talking about other people’s crowdfunding campaigns among the comics community,

Reuben Willmott @reubs.bsky.social · 10/10/2026
I see we’re doing that thing again where we tell everyone to leave that nazi hell site by quote posting someone who still posts there, saying how bad it is. I’ve mentioned this before & got a condescending reply from someone who works for FT telling me don’t I understand it’s ok for them to do this

If you’re avoiding all things Neil Gaiman, I should warn you Radio 4 are repeating a play from 2021, which has a small role played by Gaiman in it

Tomorrow night’s edition of Radio 4’s Screen Shot is devoted to comics & films. Not sure if these are the only two comics they are covering. I do hope they start with a ‘zap! Pow! Comics grow up’ intro. Actually Mark Kermode wrote for Speakeasy, so they probably won’t www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

A letter in Captain Britain from Glenn Dakin & Steve Way, who a decade later would be doing Paris Man Of Plaster for Harrier comics. Dakin who then went on to write for Marvel UK and Shaun the Sheep tv series. The reply to the letter may of been written by UK editor Nebulous Neil Tennant

Marvel UK titles, but certainly not all of them. Comics often had ads to encourage you to tell your newsagent so they order and save your favourite comic every week/ month. Trying to buy them off the shelves could be an erratic experience

Reuben Willmott @reubs.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Over the years newsagents seem to have mythologised into somewhere that sold shelves and shelves of comics. My experience was that most just sold a very small seemingly random selection of British comics and maybe a pile of American comics, Marvel or DC. Many places would sell maybe one or two
