Fortune’s Weave got me planning every single move like “Gotta hit the meals on Sunday, training on Saturday, this recruit needs 3 swords, this one needs a fish, I need about seven more meals with this one, gotta talk with 4 gods on Wednesday…”

In Paper Mario, the Power Bounce badge's maximum number of bounces is arbitrarily capped against bosses, making Mario end the attack even with perfect inputs. Below are ways to determine if the player should feel bad about the missed input or if it was the game's fault.

$In Paper Mario, the Power Bounce badge's maximum number of hits is arbitrarily capped when fighting various enemies, particularly bosses. This means that even if you perform the input perfectly, Mario will'simply stop the attack all by himself at some point, making it look like it was your fault. Here is how to tell if your attack was capped by the game or if you missed an input: If you missed an input, the A button will remain on screen for a fraction of a second after the hit. In addition, Mario will jump off the enemy in a steep arc, landing close to the enemy. If you were capped, the A button will disappear on the frame Mario deals the final hit, and he will jump off in a larger arc, landing further away. If you see these signs, rest easy: it was not your fault. Source: YouTube user @Bonecrusher1022, youtube.com/watch?v=nLNyZyQxrr0$

If you're a Switch user who uses RetroSpy to have an input display, I have just created a skin! I found there was a lack of skins for Switch controllers, so I figured this would be a fun little project. You can grab it for free on my Ko-fi: ko-fi.com/s/bd6ba5c664

By the way the japanese GBA app does contain Mario vs Donkey Kong with 6 e-Reader levels. Cool, but unfortunately aren't included on the other versions.

In Paper Mario, Mario normally jumps onto Lakilester's cloud to use the Cloud Nine move. However, a small cute detail occurs if Mario is asleep or otherwise unable to jump onto the cloud, which causes Lakilester to gingerly pick him up from the ground himself instead.

I find it funny they made a game for a hardcore commodity such as NES speedrunning, but also act like it should not promote irregular gameplay.

Splits of my recent personal best speedrunning Kirby and the Forgotten Land for Nintendo Switch 1 & 2.

I really don’t get why you NEED to buy the virtual boy accessory in order to play on NSO, the footage is in 2D for gods sake, how the fuck.

I didn’t focus much on tournaments of the like here since the process can get a little time consuming, but I’m glad I stuck around for Dr. Mario to meet an infectious group that has a competitive compassion for this game. I’m content on at least taking one game off from one of the gods 😅
