Haha I’m totally spitballing here but we can probably make that argument. If the fridge wasn’t mainstream until the early 1950s, then the children of the boomers were probably the first generation removed from the exposure to that sort of food (as a main staple). So “folks under 40” works for me!

Fruit cake (at least in America) is comprised of dried fruits that stored and transported well without refrigeration. Once you got actual real fresh fruit, who wants that nonsense?

I would say after the advent of home refrigeration. Foods previously only available to limited regions or the rich fell into the hands of the common people and meals changed dramatically.
