Family dining al fresco. Photo from my collection, no date/info.

Black and white photo of a shorthaired, white and tabby cat lying in a field looking brightly towards the camera. She has two kittens appearing to nurse on her and a third kitten that looks very much like her that is also looking towards the camera.

#xivwomenweek day 5- Shadowbringers "Let's drink!" KInd of a "what if" piece where Giott and Lamitt meet. Had a blast with healer quests and Giott's drunken ass xD #ffxiv #ffxivart #FF14

Giott on the left holding a full jug of alcohol and looking very happy, while Lamitt on the right is timidly holding her own jug, looking at Giott.

I have a Big Ask from our community. Many of you will remember our graduates Pikachu and Eevee, who were adopted together. Eevee had dealt with some very challenging chronic diarrhea while she was a kitten, but before adoption, we figured out a food that worked for her & she was all better (thread)

Eevee, a soft dilute torbie cat, hunched over looking uncomfortable and thin.

none of those signs could stop me because i simply could not read 😌👍

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

(and this "gold version" i played was full of very glitched out gibberish symbols for nearly the entire game, not even any legible japanese characters. but that didn't stop me in the slightest. and it was so magical to experience even when i had no clue what the fuck i was doing at all times)

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

there was an extra layer to this as well when releases across countries were much more staggered, esp with pokemon... my childhood experiences playing totally legitimate copies of gold and silver with *definitely* functioning and usable translations (lol. lmao...) are very fond memories, even still

100

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

somehow there's something especially special about having like... getting really into a game on its initial release, and then when they release a whole new Thing following it up? the mental illness potential to that second thing is just crazy. my two personal examples being PSO ep2 and pokemon GSC,

100

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

i think episode 2 especially changed my brain chemistry. they really put something crazy in that one i think

000

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

vana'diel is my home that i grew up in that felt more real than my real life felt as a teen. meanwhile PSO is like a morbid fascination that creeped its way deep into my brain as a still-developing teenager and would continue to inform all of my interests in fictional media for the rest of my life

100

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

thoughts i have between me thinking about that survey while also listening to the PSO OST to try and calm my overly anxious mind down

100

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

PSO is very much there though. it's actually really just PSO all the way down. that's the (not) big secret

100

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

something that's kinda funny to me and only me personally is that despite how influential xi has been to me throughout my life, i feel like there's like. literally none of its DNA in my personal fantasy story/OC setting i've been plotting out in my head for who knows how many years now

also because i have anxiety i will now sit here with a backup copy of all my written answers for the next 24-48+ hours or so because what if i forgot to write something important. and also simply because of the anxiety

000

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

honestly i think i need an "i dont fucking know" answer to multiple questions because i dont fucking remember when i take breaks or when i came back. my ass has terrible time blindness and i don't really have any reason to catalogue this shit for future reference. and i hate picking a wrong answer,

100

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

but i don't understand if that's just like. "currently playing?" why is "onward" even listed in the options if they want people who stopped playing to select when they stopped playing. wouldn't it make sense to only add that to the last one. i am overanalyzing this question bc of this one word

100

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

like for me i started with NA launch, which was released with RoZ (2003). i played for god knows how many years nonstop. there were times i would take long breaks where i played more XIV, with some back and forth. and now i just randomly hop on whenever for both games....

100

renarys @renarys.vanadiel.network · 02/10/2026

this also may be really stupid, but how this question is worded vs how the answers are written is seriously confusing me....

looking over my responses i've written up for this survey so far is like... for as shamelessly in love with xi as i am, most of what i actually wrote in the comments are quite scathing LMAO (but that's more because of my issues with SE directly rather than the actual game itself...)

In photography you really just wanna make sure that the cat is properly exposed. Photo from my collection no info/date.

Black and white photo of a light skinned man wearing a plaid sports coach and watch in a skinny dark colored tie. He is looking down at a long-haired grey kitten that he cradles in his hands. The photo seems to be somewhat under exposed because the man’s skin tone is blown out, but the kitten looks perfect.

There's a few limits in place here with QOL and the like, but I think FFXI is magical in a way little else can be. If you're curious just try it, don't let the way anyone talks about it daunt you. It's a world, if you exist in it at all you're not doing anything wrong.
