My phone died about 36 hours ago and so far my life has improved significantly. Some of the things I used to do on my phone (like accessing Bluesky) I can do on my laptop, but it's significantly less convenient and seamless. Time to get a dumb phone.

I had a dream l lived in an old apartment building and there were kids running and playing in the hallways and everything was brightly colored and people were friendly. My apartment was at the back of the building where it was quiet and one of my neighbors asked me for a favor and I said yes.

Just learned that Category Is Books, a lovely queer bookshop in Glasgow, has been targeted by transphobic violence, & is fundraising to cover the costs of a smashed window & roller shutters. I hate that they have to do this & would love to see them meet their goal.

Oz is claiming that the two measles deaths in Pennsylvania might have “had another condition that was already attacking them and they happened to get measles at the same time”. This implies that 1. It’s okay if kids with comorbidities die of measles. 2. That they would have died anyway so nbd.

There were two little girls (maybe 8 yrs old?) in the row ahead of us at a performance of A Midsummer Nights Dream. At the end, when Puck said "give us your hands if we be friends," they both enthusiastically held out their arms. Adorable! #tinyjoys

No cheating. Share the last picture of the sky from your camera roll. Note: this is harder than it looks because a lot of pictures have *some* sky in them. This was the first that had significant sky content.
Rocky coast with gray sea and sky. The sky is about half the picture, so I think it counts.

Very confusing headline. The issue is that "sell by" is not the same as "use by" or "best if used by." Basically they're just simplifying labelling.

The actress playing Jane Fairfax this summer in the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's production of Emma portrayed Gwendolyn Fairfax in last year's production of The Importance of Being Earnest. She did not, however, play Mrs. Fairfax in the previous season's Jane Eyre.

Blurry, bad picture of a dead tree trunk with many small holes drilled into it. About halfway up are two Acorn Woodpeckers, one with its back to the camera, one in more of a classic woodpecker profile. Sorry, all I have is a camera phone.

It seems to me that people who (correctly) say that "their" can be either plural or singular, depending on context, should be open to the possibility that "guys" can be gendered or non-gendered, depending on context.

I'm reading a book whose author seems determined to undermine any sense of urgency or dramatic tension. Example: chapter ends with viewpoint character about to plunge into a burning building. Next chapter begins with discussion of how the character has learned there are things you can't prepare for.

Timeline cleanse. For those who don't know the story, Biggie (the larger cub on the left) was emancipated by her mother, 128 Grazer, when Grazer went into estrus. This is normal bear behavior. Somewhat more unusual: Biggie joined bear 806 and her spring cub and seems to have been adopted!
