i miss teaching so much it's hard for me to think about sometimes. like whenever i lament about my job i'm like "well all jobs suck i'm sure i'd be making compromises anywhere" but like i never felt any annoying malaise teaching i just loved it. and my frustrations with it stemmed from that fact

and to be clear i understand why they think this when a lot of times homework is essentially just busywork and it doesn't get emphasized like. at all at any point that the reason you go to school is to learn things.

lrp i've said this before but when i was a teacher that was 100% my experience. when my students didn't do their homework they'd come to me apologetic like they'd harmed me personally and i'm like, idk how to explain that i'm assigning this stuff to help YOU, not bc i just love grading homework

otherwise stuff that is just really good and gets worse for one reason or another, i can still appreciate the good parts. i think the best shows aren't all about building to an ending and the quality speaks for itself. people care too much about endings in general

imo this can only happen when the decline reveals/emphasizes something that was wrong all along but that you ignored bc you were giving the show time to make its case. shows that bank heavily on a payoff further down the line. then if it whiffs the ending it's obvious it was always empty
